I had an...interesting idea...

I'm making a beatstick for this game and I figured I'd make something...rather insane.

I plan on taking the ghost savage progression out of Ghostwalk, ghost template, ghost savage progression from Wizards.com, giving it to an anthrobat, giving the anthrobat tentacles via Illithid Heritage and Illithid Grapple, and going something to the tune of psion/anarchic initiate//ghost/monk/psywar. Possess some dumb brutish monster, have it explode in tentacles, and then smash some face and eat some brains.

Yes, my idea is that I'm one of Cthulu's stillborn offspring.

Anybody have anything they feel would add to the awesomeness of all of this? We're starting out with 50k xp and 50k gp, for what it's worth.

Maat_Mons psywar + the illithid feats build works just fine on this.
And that's just the early levels. Uses a few more non-psi classes.

Do you think Ardent with it's standard trick, can get ML from the psion side?

If you could get in enough Binder levels to bind Zceryl in all this nonsense, you could then start spawning temporary tentacle creatures to press the attack.

Oh! And I'm trying for a greater psionic bloodline. It grants psionic feats rather than racial abilities.

You can put racial HD and LA on opposite sides of the gestalt if you want, so that can probably produce some interesting options if you decide to expand your racial selection somewhat.  Maybe pick a critter that already has tentacles and save yourself some feats?  Dolgaunt from ECS is pretty vile...

Okay, so no Ghostwalk ghosts. They're not allowed to take PC classes. I'll just take the normal one, even with the LA +5.

Also, Ghostwalk ghosts are outsiders, and they're killable. Normal ones...aren't, really.

I remembering reading somewhere that you didn't need to take all levels of a savage progression. Just take as few levels as you need. Like... 1

So you want to be a ghostly tentacle monster?  Get a level in artificer to call yourself an orificer.

For posession, I believe you ned 4 levels, but that's still 1 fewer point of LA.

Don't get too eager about the ethergaunt.  The DM is pretty much stuck on the fact that there is NO WAY to advance innate / racial spellcasting.  Unless the monster entry specifically states something the way the Rakshasa does, then you are stuck with whatever CL the base monster has.  I don't have access to the 'gaunts so I'm not sure what their creature entry actually states.

I just know I was trying to build a Cleric - Monster of Legend and he put the nix on that.  I can dig the info out of the private text in the thread if you really want to see it.

I've never played an erudite before.

I'm strictly avoiding StP at this point, and his thrall is so I'll have a body to run around in.

[edit] What are the best undead templates for an ECL 8 undead pixie for me to use my ghost's malevolence ability on?

The body will have my HD and HP while I'm in it, so giving it all LA would be excellent, especially since it loses all of its class features. I can use its Su abilities (due to Metamorphic Transfer) and all the stuff spelled out in Magic Jar.

Anybody got anything nice? I thought maybe necropolitan evolved undead x4 or something.

It's more that I'll be subduing and dominating monsters that have awesome abilities that I want, possessing them and beating the everloving crap out of the ones that I don't, and using my thrall as a safety net to blast when I'm between bodies.

It's supposed to be a high-powered campaign, so I'm going for being damned difficult to permanently kill.

Thank ye sir. I'll look at it as soon as Wizards.com is no longer filtered by whatever nanny filter is on the wifi I happen to be using at the time (meaning in about 2 hours or so).




Also, I need some really good undead templates to make a pixie into something to be reckoned with as a body to inhabit between possessions, and as an assistant when I'm not inhabiting him.

It needs to be good on its own, as well as a good fit for the effects of the Magic Jar spell (as noted on the ghost's malevolence entry). Suggestions? Note that I can use the (Su) abilities of whatever form I'm in, given that I've got Metamorphic Transfer, and the ECL of the pixie + templates needs to be 9 or below.

Not a lot of undead templates work on fey unfortunately, but Gravetouched Ghoul is definitely one of the better ones to consider.

Anyway, if you can mix and match ghost abilities, you definitely should try to get laughter of madness as your lesser ability

It's from Dungeon Magazine (130), dudes who fail a will save against this sonic mind-affecting supernatural attack take 2d6 points of int and wis damage.  As with telekinesis, it's a standard action every d4 rounds.

It's themetic.
