Q150:  are there any 1st level spells that can move an ally?  I am playing a supermount w/ a dragon, and I want to make him a bit more mobile.  I know there's Hustle, Slide, and Greater Slide, along w/ Lion's Charge, but I'm trying to get it as cheap as possible.  It's fine if it's a standard action to cast.

A150: Benign Transposition (Spell Compendium 27) swaps two allies, but is explicitly not going to work if you want to teleport your mount and take you with it. The first level psionic power Dimension Slip (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/pse/20031219a) has the same restriction. Boots of Big Stepping (Magic Item Compendium 76) function as Greater Teleport and do not mention a restriction on bringing another creature, but cost more than a second level wand. An item of Shadow Jaunt maneuver (Tome of Battle 79) would be 1500 if I am reading that correctly (look under Crown of White Ravens, page 149). edit: Actually it looks like Shadow Jaunt would just take the initiator, so this one should probably be considered unanswered./edit

Are you playing a dragonrider of Pern?
Naah, just a regular old dragon.  Was just wanting some more movement.  It doesn't have to be teleportation, though.  Plain old movement is fine.  But, there are a lot of low level teleport effects out there now.

It doesn't have the clause, no.  I checked myself.

So this sounds like a winner! That's excellent. A stack of extra spells to help a druid catchup to the cleric domains and wizard specialist slots.

Any last ideas why this wouldn't work? and do I have an hour to use them? (duration of Owl's Insight)
It should work, but yes you'd have to use them within the hour. You lose the slots when your wisdom drops.

And if you get them back later in the same day, they are still expended probably.  See abilities that increase your Turn Undead as an example.

Q160:Q161:  The Dragon Tail soulmeld from Dragon Magic, says you form a tail and can attack with it as a standard action.  Is there anything other than common sense that allows you to work it in to a full attack routine?  It might possibly function like certain maneuvers allowing it to be only used by itself I guess.

Q162:  Do soulmelds shaped by the Shape Soulmeld feat count against your soulmelds granted by your class?  I think the answer is no, but I'm just verifying.

Q163:  How does a Totemist even qualify for Imp. Rapidstrike, not gaining 15 BAB until level 20.  Multiclass in to a full BAB class and hope it works out by level 18?

In my humble opinion, CO is haberdashery. Some say we're mad, but we can all agree we're hatters. Yes, we have potential to make very sophisticated hats, very fancy hats, be they dark or light. But the truth is that the color of the hat does not come from the group of us - our community doesn't directly produce hats. We simply give average head circumferences, list current fashion trends, and point out some shiny, obscure baubles to add to the latest hat line.

And just to throw my own opinion about my own questions out there.

A160?:  Rapidstrike gives you 1 attack with one of those weapons.  If our sample creature has Claw +0/Claw +0, with Rapidstrike he has Claw +0/ Claw +0/Claw -5.  Imp Rapidstrike gives you additional attacks at -5, -10, -15 and -20, and no more than four attacks, giving our sample creature Claw +0/Claw +0/Claw -5/Claw -5/Claw -10/Claw -15/Claw -20, the two Claw -5's are not a typo, as the first one I think you get from Rapidstrike.    Other than designer intent, I don't know why it would cause you to get iteratives with all your natural attacks.  Though that would be nice.

A161?:  I actually have no idea.

A162?: No, they don't count against your class feature granted meldshaping.

A163?:  As I already mentioned, I guess said character takes a full BAB class to counteract the medium BAB and get to 15 BAB around level 18.

One more before sleep.

I was looking for that but I couldn't remember what the thread was called!

Also, I'm still hoping other people will answer my other questions even though I threw some answers out there.  I'm not particularly confidant in any of them.

Q165:  If a Totemist plans to get Rapidstrike, and thus needs the aberration-type, why is Dragonborn Elan the default.  I know Charisma isn't exactly necessary for Totemists, but why give it a -2 if you don't have to, and could be a Synad instead?  Just more commonly allowed?

The con boost. Also, don't synads have LA?

A gygaxian dungeon is like the world's most messed up game show.

Behind door number one: INSTANT DEATH!
Behind door number 2: A magic crown!
Behind door number 3: 4d6 giant bees, and THREE HUNDRED POUNDS OF HONEY!
They don't/haven't, was the point. 3.5 is as dead as people not liking nice tits.

Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.

Though sometimes, the surgeon (DM) botches them pretty bad...
Best metaphor I have seen in a long time.  I give you much fu.
Three Errata for the Mage-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Barbarian-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Monks doomed to die,
One for the Wizard on his dark throne
In the Land of Charop where the Shadows lie.

To clarify, I meant why aren't they Dragonborn Synads instead of Dragonborn Elans.

And no, to my knowledge Synads have no LA.

I guess my point is if Dragonborn throws away everything but score adjustments, and both of these are aberrations, but one has -2 Charisma, why don't we avoid that one.

Because Cha doesn't matter to a Totemist.

Q 166 Got a player that wants a powerless ioun stone that's got a spell trigger continual light cast on it, so that it not only casts light for everyone to see, but it also make it look like he's got a halo circling his head. How does one go about designing something that? And how much would it cost?

Unfortunately it's a 12th level caster to make an ioun stone so it'd still be enough at least note. Especially at x2 cost and it being continuous. Then there's the 50 gold cost for ruby dust. I'd let him turn it on and off as a free action like the saint's glowing aura.

Q 167 Follow up question. If you have an ioun stone that eventually burns out (Lavender Stone), does it still circle above your head?

Pale lavender ellipsoids and lavender and green ellipsoids note that they turn dull gray when used up.  In 3.0, dull grey ioun stones were actually statted out:
  • Color: Dull gray
  • Shape: Any
  • Effect: Merely orbits without further powers
  • Cost: 25 gp

Buying one of those and casting continual flame on it is darn cheap for a 12th level character.

I don't know how to work in turning it on and off.

However,in 3.5, they were given the ability to provide 1 power point once (then disintegrate) to a psionic character.
I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

That's cool. I'll be sure to make note of that.

So the spell is permanent duration, and getting a caster to do it would cost 110 gold (50 material + 60 spell/CL). It can be covered to not spread light anymore, but no way to turn it off.

@snakeman830 -- That's interesting to note about the power point because it is going to a psionic character.

Q168 Does the Dragonborn of Bahamut transformation rid a character of an inherited template as well as their original racial features?

A168  They keep the template, and lose much of what it grants.  Best to avoid inherited (or early-acquired) templates with dragonborn unless the LA is real low and the template is mostly granting stuff dragonborn can keep.  A Lolth-touched whatever who has seen the error of its ways or been modified magically and changed alignment might work well, for example. Str and Con +6 apiece (keep), +4 racial bonus to Hide and Move Silently (lose), immunity to all fear effects (lose), alignment changes to Chaotic Evil (already happened and dropped), LA +1 (quick and cheap to buy off).

A 166: Watch Lamp, Magic Item Compendium 147 gives you a hands free torch that turns on and off as a Swift. You could add the slotless cost and subtract the spell trigger cost. Quite affordable even in the early levels.

If I wanted to just put that ability on the dull gray ioun stone, could I just add the 25 gold of that to the 500 gold of the item? Or would I still need to double the cost for a "slotless" item?
