I had a dream...
« on: June 27, 2011, 07:15:57 PM »
...and in this dream, my Dwarf teach (probably a Dwarf Artificer) told me I wasn't leaving until I'd made the most powerful non-Pun Pun character of those around me.

I pondered the merits of a Shadowcraft Mage Hood, wondering if the little gnome were worth it.  Then, behold!  I dreamt of the Dal Quor Planar Shepherd Hood, and I was allowed to leave.

Having awoken, I reread the rules.  It looks like it would work, and well, too!  It's like a RAWRBomb in a pseudo-time stop!  Mind you, we're already dealing with a Dal Quor Planar Shepherd.  Adding Hood is just gravy.

(I find it ironic that I was dreaming about Dal Quor, Eberron's Region of Dreams.)

Now I'm curious what the most powerful 3.5 character is that doesn't rely on infinite loops nor nearly infinite loops.
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

... Research a bit? And define "powerful"?
If I say something about real world physics, and someone disagrees, assume I am right 90% of the time. This number goes up to 100% if I am late night posting - trust me, my star dust sibs.

"Powerful" is purposely subjective.  Still, what non-(nearly) infinite looper is more likely to get banned from a campaign than a Dal Quor Planar Shepherd?

Far realms planar shepherd.

That's just freaky!  Would that Planar Bubble start unmaking the rest of reality?

I would really rather not mix the Greensinger sect with the Far Realms. Indeed. :bigeye Xoriat's bad enough!

"The most powerful character is the one that you actually get to play."

While my CL/ML monsters are fully capable of "Punification" without relying on infinite anything, the irony is that a core Wizard 20 can stalemate any of them, as can an Ardent 10 with arbitrary actions.

Awesome
Some Cool Quotes:  [spoiler]
Quote from: unknown
Non-PC activities like out of combat healing should be left to wands and NPCs. It's not fun to play a walking wand of CLW. Likewise, being a combat wall is not a viable PC role. A Wall of Force could do that.

-Sort of, but you left out the important note that a Wall of Force does it better.

Runestar said something similar a long time ago. Hence why I quoted him/her in my signature. I found it to be very true.

Thanks. I knew it was a near-direct quote from the pre/early Gleemax days but didn't know who to credit.

"The most powerful character is the one that you actually get to play."

You wave a character sheet under the GM's nose and say [as you see the look of horror] "I rolled this up, but it's a bit too powerful and I thought you'd not want that in your campaign, so I'm playing this instead" and produce a second sheet.

The practical optimiser considers the second the best, the theoretical the first.

Bait and switch, optimisation-style.

Heck Enda ... you just bumped psly4mne's damage loop non-loop.
I supposed it "should" be possible to do that with every other ability in the game.

My version of this was a Big Guy psi build, takes Planar Vanguard up to 10.
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20031219a

The early psi board called this Genesis but with a twist or two.
I said the wording includes the possibility that the Psicrystal IS the actual demiplane.
AH hd + feats + skills + all the rest. But it stops growing at some point.
It can't really be determined exactly how big the numbers should be.
And while it can be grown bigger in steps, at some point it takes too much time, relative to other crazinesses.
