Boulder Tubbs, the Rotund Romantic: a Swift Hunter
« on: June 12, 2011, 12:16:53 PM »
In an upcoming game, my character has superspeed.  Is there a better way to use it than with a fat dwarf?

Level 9, all books, no magazines

Dwarf Cloistered Cleric of Fharlanghn (travel devotion, knowledge devotion, celerity domain) 1/ scout4/ranger4
1: combat reflexes
3: ewp(kusarigama)
6: swift hunter
9: stand still

If I swift move in, and full attack, my skirmish applies to each hit, right? Can I choose to deal damage with several of the attacks and then force a stand still with the last?
What are some good enchantments for the kusarigamas? I was thinking earthbound and ghost touch.
Is there another light weapon with reach?

I think Stand Still only applies to AoO's. Interesting idea though, using that as a sort of lockdown to add to your Swift Hunter build. Are you dual-wielding kusarigamas?

Yeah, so I can get some utility from the ranger's two weapon fighting.

You're right about the AoO part of it, shoot.  Would improved trip work instead?

Stand Up
Standing up from a prone position requires a move action and provokes attacks of opportunity.

Standing up would seem to be movement.

Makes sense. I'll have to let my DM know since we might've actually played it with movement defined as movement through squares in those particular cases.

Back to the original poster: I'm sure skirmish applies to a full-attack. Or at least, it seems people believe it applies if you used Travel Devotion + fired arrows/Rapid-Shot, so I don't see why it wouldn't apply to melee.

Nice build, I quite like it.
If I swift move in, and full attack, my skirmish applies to each hit, right?
Yes.

I thought stand still could only be used on AoOs?

It's probably cheaper to get a truedeath crystal than ghost touch.
That anti-Arcane ability is pretty good since just about everything has spell-likes (mage slayer enhancement from MiC IIRC)

Not any weapon that comes to mind at this moment.

I agree with Hallinn on the standing up thing.

Also, why dwarf? I'd think you'd want Nezumi for their speed or Human for their feat?
Monks are pretty much the best designed class ever.

Yeah, nezumi or human would be optimal, but I had the idea of a really fat dwarf rolling around.   Combat expertise is one of the bonus feats given to scouts (though combat reflexes isn't?) so that'll be okay.

Don't forget to add spiky armor to the rolly polly dwarf.
