Get a -2 cursed sword made of adamantine and hide a spellshard or scroll or whatever in the hilt. Unless your captors take the time to use a Limited Wish, Wish, or Miracle on you, they can't take the sword away from you. Prepare your spells, carve your way out of the prison, etcetera.
Or they just cut off your hand or arm...  :rollseyes

  • It can only be attributable to human error.

As long as you draw the weapon with your teeth you would be fine. Cutting off the hands and tongue is a way to contain an arcane spell caster, except there are spells without a verbal or somatic component that you could still cast.

Well it's not like the cursed sword can regenerate limbs after all.  They can cut off both hands and/or arms.  You might still have the sword somehow, but let's see you effectively wield it.

Can an antimagic field overcome the sword's curse at least?

Probably. So, just dump it in a permanent AMF?

DM: "You find a well crafted sword an upon further inspection notice it has an extraplanar portal glued to it, inside are several thousand pages of spells written in various books."
Player: "Sweet, I pocket it."
*later*
DM: "On your way out of the cave the sword, and those tomes you left in the extraplanar space, vanish."
Player 2: "Oh yeah, I died back there in a session last year. Bet that was my spellbook. I wondered where it went (and where it is now?)"
