Hearing the gunshot Builder whispers down, That came from outside. What's going on out there?

As he eases the rest of the way down the stairs, he looks around to see if there is any sign of the infected on the ground floor, or anything else of interest.

Brock crouches down and freezes in an effort to conceal himself as soon as he sees the other group.
Hide (1d20+2=20)
He watches them carefully, his jaw clenched in anger as he witnesses the murder.

Fucking animals. Brock has seen many others like these throughout his life, their kind always managed to find a way to survive. In his anger, he briefly considers putting them down himself. He immediately discards that idea, though. There are too many and they are too well armed.

On the positive side, he thinks with a grin, if there are any of those other things around, the gunshot should draw them to these guys.

At the sound of Bob's whisper, Brock turns and whispers back, "Other survivors. Some guy plus a drunken biker gang or something. The bikers shot the poor fuck then swaggered off down the street. I saw at least ten, probably too many for the two of us. I say we wait a few minutes until we're sure they're gone."

They'll get what they deserve, either from those beasts or from someone better armed than them. Builder looks around and sees the fire door. I don't want to wait to see if that noise brings trouble. You want to go out the back and head another direction than they did? I'm not familiar with this area, you know where we are?

Brock is well hidden behind the door and the bikers have walked out of his sight, he is sure they didn't spot him.

Builder looks around, the exits are the front where the bikers passed by, the rear emergency exit door, or back up the stairs. He's sure if he opens the back door an alarm should not go off.

"The back door is a good idea, it's less exposed and it should lead away from those assholes. You want to go first, or should I?"

What do I know about the area? Do I need to make some kind of roll?
You work near here, you know this area relatively well. The black area represents your location. You are in a commercial area at the moment.
Builder pulls out the 9mil and takes a second to check the safety on the unfamiliar gun. <I think that's off.> He leans up against the fire door, and counts to three in his head, just like he saw in the movies.

Bursting through the door, he sweeps the alleyway with the small pistol to determine if the coast is clear. If it is, he will pull out his wrench in his off hand and whisper This way. to Brock, leading away from the main street.
Poor Brock. What has he gotten himself into.  :lmao
Brock watches as Bob pulls out his gun and fumbles with it a bit.

<If we ever find a safe place to rest, I should teach him some of the basics of shooting.>

Brock readies his own weapon in case there is something waiting for them on the other side of the door.
Ready action: Shoot anything that tries to kill Builder.
Ready Action: Shoot (1d20+6=15)
Damage (2d6+2=11)
He is caught completely by surprise, however, when Builder throws the door open and begins waving his gun around like an action hero.

<Note to self: This man is not subtle.>
If Builder is not attacked, I follow him out the door.

Builder is indeed not attacked. Both men exit the building into a narrow alleyway. There are dumpsters ahead, a fire escape next to you that leads to the roof, and several doors that go into other buildings as well. The coast looks clear for the moment.

Builder hustles down the alleyway, paying only minimal mind to stealth. He is, however, straining his eyes looking for the slightest bit of movement.

Builder makes to the end of the alley way, as far as he can tell the coast is clear. He hears a strange noise in the air, sort of like a clicking sound, in the distance. From his vantage point at the alley he can see an array of commercial buildings. Ahead is a hospital and it appears to be teeming with "activity". He notices armed men on the lawn, wearing camouflage and standing near a helicopter. Army men? What were they doing there?

Builder slumps back against the wall and sighs. We just can't catch a break. The God Damned Army or the Guard or somebody is evacuating a hospital over there. I don't feel like being shot any more than being eaten, and what the Hell is that noise? He regains his composure and continues. It sounds like a giant freakin' cicada, and before you look at me like I'm crazy right now I wouldn't be surprised to see Godzilla walk down the street. He points up for effect.

"Cool your shit!" Hisses Brock, "Now isn't the time to freak out. We need to think clearly if we're going to survive..." Brock trails off as he too notices the strange clicking sound.

"What the fuck is that sound?" Brock mutters as he listens and looks around intently.

What does the clicking sound like? Does it sound mechanical, or like some sort of bug? (I think I already know the answer) Most importantly, what direction is it coming from?

Brock can clearly hear the sound, it does indeed sound like the fluttering of a bug's wings as it lands in your ear, except much larger...and sinister somehow. The sound itself sounds like it could be coming from anywhere, almost as if it echoes off every surface. Maybe it does. Even across the way, on the lawn on the hospital the military men have noticed and Brock sees one of them lift his radio and begin speaking into it, although at this distance he has no idea what the man is saying. The man nods to the others on guard and they immediately raise their guns, looking more on guard than they did before somehow. The leader, as that must be who he is although Brock can not make out the rank from here, points in the distance to the east before turning and heading back toward the entrance of the hospital. Brock and Builder can clearly hear rapid fire gunshots from inside the hospital.

Well, so much for thinking it's an evac... Builder grumbles. It's up to you, buddy. You want to head over there all "Save us", then I've got your back. I just got a weird feeling about them, is all.
Okay, now I'm good and confused. Which way were we heading? Which way and how far is the hospital? Which way is East? And most importantly, is there a way that isn't backward that leads away from the hospital?  :D
"I'm with you. For all we know the government is responsible for all this shit. Who knows what they'd do to cover it up?

Brock begins looking around for an alternate route.
Is there another way we can go that doesn't lead towards the hospital, the clicking noise, the biker gang, or the place we came from?
Absolutely. Firstly, you were originally headed north out the fire door. The hospital is north, across an intersection and a small parking lot and lawn. East is to your immediate right. You could easily get onto the street and either go east or west, although possibly within sight of the soldiers. Behind you is the fire exit that goes inside the building and to the front street, but if you are nervous about the bikers then may I add the fire escape stairs that go to the very top of the building are still behind you.
"Hmmm..." Mutters Bock, as he thinks about their options. "We could try to take these stairs up to the roof to get a better view of the area. Only problem is that whatever killed that poor bastard inside could be up there somewhere."

Brock quickly checks around the base of the stairs, looking for a blood trail. Whatever killed that guy left a bloody mess inside, if it took the stairs down, it may have left a trail.

Brock looks thoroughly but see's no sign of blood on the fire stairs down here. Whatever, or whoever was bleeding must have went up.

"Looks like that thing's probably still up there. If it's just one I think the two of us could deal with it. Do you want to chance it?" Brock asks, looking at his companion.
