I wonder if she'll explode, Lily morbidly finds herself hoping, because I'm sure he could pummel me right now. She did feel quite weak, more so than she ever wanted to feel while confronted with a dangerous lunatic. Ah! she thinks in frustration. She waits for some opportunity, for Lee to turn his back long enough so that she could incapacitate him.... using any means necessary. This had gone on for too long. I won't let him kill all these people. Protect and serve. In honor of the fallen officers, I will not let him win.
Readied action: If Lee has his back turned or is distracted for more than a couple seconds, Lily will raise her firearm and shoot.  SAVE THE CIVILIANS! DEBILITATE LEE! (1d20+8=20)
Okay Hudson took too long so I'm randomly selecting an enemy for him so the game can continue. He fires at E-13.
Hudson fires the cross bow at the creature and the bolt strikes the infected human through the shoulder, staying halfway struck through it as it continues to advance, screeching that horrible sound as they always did.

The infected advance and the party can see it won't be long before they are upon them.

Lee continues to smirk at Lily at if he knew what she was thinking while his daughter finished her meal. Lee looked around at the crowd, including Lily and began to point his finger at people in a line. Lily swore his mouth was silently saying eenie meenie miney moe. What a bastard.

Suddenly an all too familiar sound is heard nearby. Lily recognizes it. Oh she recognizes it all too well. The sound of the horrible monster that had injured her badly before, the sound that was reminiscent of a giant cicada. At she recalls the battle from before her mind once again is jarred by a familiar thought she swore was on her mind earlier. (A second, and last chance for that intelligence check you failed earlier. It has information that could be helpful).

Lee pulls out his rifle. "What the fuck was that"? Behind him his daughter begans writhing on the ground and screeching. "Quiet baby, daddy might have work", Lee quietly growls. He points his rifle at Lily. "You...go out the front door and check it out".

"Get up there, I'll try and hold them off."  Chuck waits a moment to allow Hudson to continue climbing up the fire escape.  Then he climbs up onto the dumpster and holds the mace ready for the mob's attack.  Seeing that Hudson softened one of them up, he focuses on the injured one.

Actions
Delay initiative until just after Hudson's action, allowing him to climb further.

Still panicking inside, Lily takes a step backward toward the door, still watching Lee so that he doesn't get the chance to shoot her in the back... and feed her to that wretch of a daughter of his. She says, "It sounds like the creature we fought earlier... with the huge spiky tongue... if it really is one out there, I won't be able to kill it myself..." Her voice trembles and her face shows discomfort as she says, "Perhaps someone should come with me... at the very least to give you a bit more time to prepare."

Hudson scrambles up the ladder and checks the first and only door he sees. It is a type of fire escape and it won't open from this side. Must be a commercial building, Hudson thinks. He looks up to see the fire escape goes all the way to the roof.

Chuck leaps into the air and lands on top of the dumpster. Adrenaline pumping he doesn't even recognize the feat he just accomplished. Holding the mace in one hand he holds his other palm forward towards the infected as they rush towards him. Chuck grunts a battle cry loudly as he begins swinging at the infected humans. No...no longer human. From now on, only known as Infected.

The heavy mace swings through the air, not cutting through, it is ungracefully slow but nevertheless quite effective. The mace smashes the side of the charging Infected's head and much to Chuck's happiness and horror the head is separated from the body of the former mail man to bounce off the side of the building's wall. The headless corpse takes two more unsteady steps and falls next to the wall. Blood sprays the walls from the corpse and from the bouncing head. <Painting the town red>. Chuck insanely thinks to himself.

The mace continues it's momentum just as another Infected reaches the dumpster. Nearly feeling like he's golfing with the mace Chuck swings it low and hits another Infected. He nearly cringes as well. The Infected had been a woman. Had been. He tried to remind himself. The mace smashes into her head so hard she hits the concrete wall and her crown splits open like a melon. Just as Chuck thinks he scored another kill the woman shakily stands up and screeches at him, blood red eyes now even redder as blood seeps from them.

How can these creatures take such damage and keep walking? Chuck has no time to ponder though as the remaining Infected attack.

The other Infected, a male, swings his claws and they lightly rake across Chuck's calve muscle for 3 points of damage!

The injured female Infected grabs at Chuck but her wound must be affecting her for she moves slowly and without coordination, Chuck easily kicks her hands away.

Hudson looks down to see Chuck fending off the Infected with his new found weapon. Doing a pretty good job too. A good man to have in tight quarters Hudson thinks to himself. As he is about to shout for Chuck to follow he sees something out the corner of his eye. Great, more Infected to deal with. He turns to the alley way entrance to see how many and instantly freezes as he sees one creature. Only it's one he had never seen before. He shouts at Chuck and Chuck looks up to see it too.
New creature has entered the initiative order. The initiative now looks like this:

Hudson
Chuck
Hunter
Infected
***************************************************************

Lee yawns and nods to her. "Sure. Take one person with you. One volunteer".

Lily looks hopefully at the scared people huddled against the wall. They look back at her from downcast eyes. They are scared and ashamed of it. When it looks like no one will go with her the injured cop from before limps towards her. "I'll go with you", he smiles weakly but warmly.

"Oh this is too much", Lee laughs. "Now get out there and distract whatever's coming so I can kill it".

Lily listens before doing anything and she hears the sound of the creature from before, the one that nearly killed her. It sounds like it's coming from the street down in front of the police station and it sounds as if it is still a little ways away. She also hears the low wup wup wup of a helicopter and judging by her sharp hearing it sounds as if it's getting closer. The cop stands near her, awaiting her direction.

"Looks like Momma's here, so playtime's over.  Time to go."  Chuck takes one last swing at the infected nearby, before attempting to climb up the fire escape after Hudson.  He places the mace in his teeth, like pirates used to do in the movies, to free his hand for climbing.  With the taste of wood and years of use on his tongue, Chuck climbs up the ladder as quickly as possible.

Possible Cleave on the other: Cleave (1d20+7=13, 1d8+4=12)

meh, I forgot Chuck is on higher ground.  Add +1 to hit for each, so AC 20 on the injured and AC 14 for the other one

Lily nods toward the police station. "Sounds like it's coming from that way... You sure you'll be okay?" Lily whispers. She has a look of worry on her face for two reasons--that her only companion out here is injured... and that he might change his mind. She looks again down the street to the police station and tries to summon some imaginary energy to face the terrible beast. Her hand goes to her side where she was injured from this one's cousin or whatever. Bastard. As Lily takes in her surroundings, she reloads the half-empty clip in her Desert Eagle. "These things don't play nice. You gotta watch out for the tongue."

The cross bow falls, drifting through the air to clang onto the ground as Hudson simultaneously pulls both his pistols from the side and begins firing. His right hand fires first and the bullet whizzes through the air to strike the new creature below. However it clangs off the hard exoskeleton appearing to do no damage to Hudson's dismay.

Chuck swings his mace and knocks the injured female from earlier back into the wall again. This time her head splits completely open and places that should not see open air spill out from the completely shattered skull. Chuck sticks the mace in his mouth and begins climbing, gritting as he finds the weight of the weapon pulling at his teeth. As he begins moving up the last infected jumps up to grasp at his legs but the creature's claws only find empty air to hold onto. The Infected falls back to it's feet, growling as if angry it's food got away.

Hudson watches in horror as the abomination slithers...not walks, it has no feet to speak of but only tentacles trailing from underneath. It slithers forward at a rather unsettling pace and then the worst thing happens yet. It's chest splits open and the flaps move to the side to reveal an array of bone like spikes inside the creature's chest. "What the...". Hudson begins. Suddenly with a spurt of green liquid that sprays from the creature's chest one of the bones fires out from the chest. Too fast. Too fast for Hudson to track. It may as well have been a bullet.

"Fuck"! Hudson finishes with a shout as the spiked bone plants itself into the wall next to him. Hudson's eyes widen as he realizes the spike is half way into the brick wall. Chuck pulls himself up from the ladder in time to see it.

The Infected below attempts to climb up the dumpster after Chuck. He tries to lift it's leg to swing up over but slips and falls on it's back, a miserable attempt that would deserve a laugh if the other creature wasn't pursuing them.

Managing just a single grunt of acknowledgement due to the mace, Chuck continues his ascent.  Ladders and ropes are quite familiar to him, and with a bit more time to focus on the climb he decides to use all his strength to get to the top as fast as possible.  Using his arms to vault himself upward, he attempts to skip two and sometimes three rungs of the ladder at a time in order to get to the top faster.

As he climbs, Chuck's thoughts drift back to the Infected.  Separating the monster from the humans they once were is proving difficult for him.  He has gotten used to seeing people on the worst day of their lives; whether it's their house burning down or a nasty car accident.  Now he sees them after the worst day of their lives.  After a monster made them into monsters.

Infected them.  There must have been one to begin with, that infected another, and another, and so on.  When AIDS first broke out, there were attempts to trace the disease back to its source; someone they called Patient Zero.  <Who was Patient Zero, that started all this?>  He wondered.

Lily looks around and down the alleys but sees nothing for the moment. Neither does she hear anything. The cop nods to her and she nods back in assurance then begins creeping down the alley way. The cop does well at sneaking, making barely any noise much to her satisfaction. Together they approach an alley way and look down it together. There they see a woman in white crouching near a dumpster, shaking and bloody.

**********************************************************

Hudson looks down the line of his barrels with both eyes and fires. His training serves him well. Although one bullet misses the other finds it's way into the creature's open flesh. Immediately the cry of the new monster fills the air once more as it writhes in pain.

Chuck hauls himself up, his large muscles bulging under his fire man coat as he sweats his way to the top of the building. As he reaches the roof he looks around and sees a short cement block ahead. In the block is a steel door. Possibly a way down to the store. On the other side of the building he sees the fire escape continues on and goes down to the other alley way, which also appears to have a fire escape judging from the ladder peeking up from the other side of the other building. Chuck looks down to Hudson. "Hurry"!

The Hunter realigns his sights on Hudson and it's chest cavity opens once again to fire off another bone like spike in a spray of green mist and liquid. The bone spear flies through the air faster than Hudson's eyes could travel and stabs into his shoulder for 10 points of damage! Hudson roars in pain as the spike slams into his shoulder and pins him against the brick wall. With a grunt he pulls the spear out and drops it to the ground weakly but his adrenaline kicks in shortly after. His instincts scream at him. Fight! Or Flight!

The Infected at the bottom once again attempts to climb the dumpster. And once again it falls, this time smashing it's head on the pavement for 2 points of damage!

Lily looks to her companion and puts out a cautious hand. The shaking, bloody woman could be a threat, she told herself, though not what they came out here for. Lily raises her gun and clears her throat. "Excuse me," she says clearly. She takes a tiny step closer and tries to get a better view down the alley, always keeping her ears open for more threats.
Chuck and Hudson, you out of battle officially but the threat is nearby and searching for you. If you are attacked again shortly the battle will resume at the current initiative order.
Hudson scrambles up the ladder and falls over the lip of the building, blood seeping from the wound in his arm. He grunts as he stands to see the fire escape at the end of the building and the steel door nearby. Looking back to the edge of the building he hears the shrill noise of the monster below, probably waiting for any sight of him to start firing off those damned spikes. Chuck stands nearby appearing to weigh out their options.

*************************************************************

The woman looks up at the sound of Lily's voice. Lily spots her eyes, they are clear, not like the blood red of the Infected. The woman has black hair and eyes and if her face wasn't dirty and her white (lab coat?) wasn't bloody she would have been pretty. Suddenly Lily hears the sound of the tongued monster on the other side of the police station near the boarded up window. The woman then speaks and Lily is surprised to hear a thick Russian accent. "Thank God another human, and with weapons too, we must flee quickly. The Creaper is attracted to prey by human body heat, the smell of blood, and sound". She looks to Lily and the Officer and grimaces, "Dear God you both can barely walk, we are fucked, we are all fucked thanks to that stupid bitch".

Suddenly the sounds of automatic gunfire erupt from the police station and the screeching of the Creaper fills the air once more, this time intermingled with the screams of the civilians inside. The Officer spins to look at Lily, his eyes saying everything.

"The way I see it, we've got two options.  We can bust in through the door here and head down through an unfamiliar building which is likely filled with Infected.  Or we can head down the fire escape on the other side to the street which is likely filled with Infected.  I'm leaning toward the street option."

Moving as quietly as he can, and ducking low to avoid being seen from the street, Chuck makes his way to the edge of the rooftop to survey the street below.

Questions

At the sound of the monster, Lily feels herself shiver. The woman was right, they were weak right now and the likelihood of their surviving another attack from that thing was looking dim. "But what about the civilians in the police station? There's a lunatic in there with an infected daughter. We have to try to help those innocent people! Besides, where could we go?" She takes a breath and looks back to the woman. "Wait, how do you know so much about these things? Do you know their weak points?"
