Adding alignment descriptors to spells.
« on: November 23, 2010, 11:15:49 PM »
I know there are ways to easily add the [Good] and [Evil] descriptors to spells, and plenty of ways to add energy descriptors, but I need to find a way to add the [Law] descriptor to my spells, either through a passive feat or a Metamagic one.  Any ideas?

I've had this question in the back of my mind for some time.  Is there a way, other than Planar Shepherd, to create a the extraplanar "bubble" around you, thus triggering this sub-level's effect of increasing save DCs by 2 (instead of 1)?

In any case, should obviously combine this with Spell Focus with the appropriate alignment descriptor.  Unlike those aligned to a particular school, this increases the save DC by 2 for a feat instead of 1, and in this specific case it applies to all of your spells.

Planar Bubble (Sor/Wiz 7, Cleric 7) - Spell Compendium?
Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.

That will work if I can somehow be a native of an aligned plane.  Any way to do that without LA?

Some, yeah. For Limbo, you can use Neraphim, for instance.

What about addding the [Evil] descriptor to Malconvoker summons?
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

Looking at the Wispling, it doesn't seem they were given the [Native] subtype.  Was this an oversight of some sort, or is it given that everything listed under "Planetouched" is automatically a [Native] outsider?  Does this mean that they're natives of a lower plane?

Because, you know... +4 Dex, +2 Int are relatively good Wizard mods.

It's late 3.0 material, so IIRC, planetouched worked slightly differently then.

Edit: They also don't have the [extraplanar] subtype, so appreantly they're native to the material, even if they aren't native outsiders.

Spikers (Planar Handbook pg .14) are Natives of Acheron, and have +0 LA. That's a [Lawful] plane.

Any other methods, by the way?  Preferably something that doesn't require you to be a native of said plane.

Dragon 357 p88.
Aligned Spellcaster
Lose Familiar
Gain the ability to add 1 alignment descriptor to your spells (Good, Evil, Law, or Chaos).  You must possess that alignment component.  Also your spells have a higher caster level if affecting people having the opposing alignment (+1) or the opposing alignment subtype (+2)
