Thrallherd : pun-pun believers
« on: November 18, 2010, 11:31:54 AM »
So, you're a thrallherd:

One arbitrary day, you have all your believers ascend to power, pun-pun style...

You have one give you manipulate form.

Why is this better than pun-pun you ask?

Because you can now take MONK levels!  You kept your lawful alignment while your believers took the hit from Pazuzu.

The two most powerful characters in one build at last! :evillaugh

The issue is that Pun-Pun beats you to it. The issue with dealing with Pun-Pun was always trying to ascend in less time than him, time being measured in levels initially and later in rounds if 2 builds could hit it at the same level. In your idea it would work but it has already been done by the real Pun-Pun and he can make you stop if he wants.

also Pun-Pun doesn't take levels of Monk he just steals all of their abilities and dresses up as one as a joke.  :D

Why would they still be your believers? They're Gods now, and say "Fuck You".

the class description does not say anything about that -- they're still yours.   :p

If you stop ignoring 289 pages telling what the intent is to stretch "more power" in your own god complexion of your interpretation trumps all to cover ability adjustments from aging then I will ignore a quarter page of rules that exist within a sidebar.
I think in this case the grammar is less important than whether the Str and Dex bonus provided to your created undead scales.

It does however tell you what ECL they have. Pun-Pun's ECL is over 9000!, so he's too powerful to be the believer (or thrall) of a thrallherd.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.

Correction -- his CR would be well over 9000.  However, ECL = HD + LA .... I don't think he has an LA, and his HD are well within tolerances.  :P

Followers can't gain experience or levels, if neither is required then you could have pun-pun almighty, who relies on a mortal pc to keep him fed (since they're explicitly loyal, but lack self-motivation).

I would think that there is a good reason to re-evaluate a creature's LA when it is handed every feat, class ability, monster ability, etc... in every book. And I'm fairly certain that it would increase the LA by at least 1 or 2.

I don't recall a Sarrukh having an LA.
I know they're 14 hd.
If they have no LA, they can't really be a Thrall via Thrallherd.

Gate always works.
The various Planar X tricks'll get there sooner or later.
I suppose an early entry Shapechange that just needs a CL of 14.
Of course we're in the range of the 1st post of a specific thread.

Just have the pun-believers stay at 1 hd, and don't bother with spell likes that rely on caster level

They can still give YOU manipulate form, and then you ascend to full pun-pun power, now it is safe to raise the believers HD a little.

you are now an entire pantheon

you could even give the pun-believers the thrallherd abilites and have multiple tiers of pun-believers

Of course the real pun-pun could do this at level 1, by gaining the thrallherd abilities and believers....

still, I can't help but think of this when playing a thrallherd.

Pun-Believers Make You a Puntheon.
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

The thing about Pun-Pun is that he is not intended.
