Andrew Jackson approves.

In 3rd person.

(Wait, that was IC...

DAMN IT!)

TIme for spell discussion.  Do you wish spells to be something anyone can learn as long as they're willing to pay the price (ala CoC), or class specific with levels like DnD.  I think I can balance it either way.

Noting how well class-only spells tend to balance out for non spellcasters, I'd say people should be able to buy training, but not for highest level, obviously. I'd be cool either way, but buying spells makes a good bit of sense.

I'm cool with whatever you decide. Though I think that in the case I wish to play a meatshield, I won't be slinging any apells around anyway.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: archangel.arcanis March 13, 2011, 04:38:33 PM
I'm fine with either I just need to know which one we are doing and what the rest of the PrCs look like so I can figure out the best way to make my guy reflect the ideas I have.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Amechra March 14, 2011, 03:02:35 AM
I'm thinking ritualistic, 'cause that fits the setting.

And you should just be able to cast them out of Tomes of Eldritch Lore (TM), but have some limitation on the number you can use before they drive you nuts.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu March 15, 2011, 04:54:28 AM
I was thinking of doing it similarly to CoC:

You have spell points equal to one of your mental stats.  Each spell costs a certain amount of spell points, sanity, and possibly other things as well.  But anyone can learn and cast them in theory if he can make an appropriate check.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)

anybody out there?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Bozwevial March 22, 2011, 03:29:28 AM
I'm still here.

Do you get to pick your own casting stat, or is that spell-dependent?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Amechra March 22, 2011, 03:34:42 AM
I'm watching, waiting for inspiration on the subject of magic at the moment...

But yeah, I agree with "cast on a check". Because otherwise, how can Mr. Jackson use blood sorcery?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu March 22, 2011, 03:40:58 AM
I'm still here.

Since a spell is you forcing your will on the universe or tricking it into doing something i wanna make it a mental stat.  Just havent decided which one.

Still here, still wanna be a mesmerist, dunno if I wanna go the ure-thing route of making him a Fast/mes, or something a little more daringly thematic like dedicated/mes or something.

Well... I don't NEED to, per se... I'm always flexible, if it would be easier to not have to chunk out another class. But currently, yep, looking at a mesmerist, despite how little I know about it.  :D
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu March 23, 2011, 04:30:01 AM
initially i was going to base it on the theories of Franz Mesmer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Mesmer

unfortunately he doesnt begin to really introduce his theories to the world until 1775 in Europe, at which point the war and beginning return of magic was in high gear and you would've been cut off from them.  Spiritualism was introduced much later than that.  I fumbled the ball thinking they were around earlier.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: archangel.arcanis March 23, 2011, 12:39:54 PM
Been mulling it over in my head what I wanted to try and do with my character here. While I'm still not all that certain I'm thinking I'll go for scouting. I'll do fast/infiltrator as my setup. Part of me feels compelled to use one of the classes made by BHU but another part says we need something else as well.

I would like to see a more fleshed out spell system since we can all potentially learn them, as I think picking up one or two spells could be cool and handy.

edit: after looking for an occupation to get spot as a class skill I had an epiphany. My character will be an artist, sculptor to be precise, as their background. So I'll be leaving the Acadian and religious undertones behind. Now to see what the Spiritualist looks like  :smirk

It is referencing back to Call of Cthulhu. The first half was about Dr. Angell and his interactions with a sculptor who was psychicly sensitive. Hence the spiritualist.

I may have to revise the spiritualist/mesmerist ideas to soemthing more appropriate somehow.

War Veteran eh? Sounds great! That'll be a shining career as Tough/dip Fast/War Veteran/Frontier Marshal for my old geezer :D

There is a sniper class in the Urban Arcana web enhancement, what the hell it is doing in there I have no idea, it may provide some good ideas.

Seems like you flavored the Veteran as some sort of psychotic badass. I may want to adjust my character concept a bit.

We start at lvl 1, correct?

Scientific crafting abilities: I want them to be worth the players time if they put effort into them, but I dont wish them to singlehandedly advance technology by decades or more in a short amount of time.  I was  thinking you begin by starting with a very high Craft DC. and requirements of time, money, skill checks, and materials.  With each failure you lower the DC slightly until you get a success.  Which means much research would be done in off time.  Spells might be done the same way.  Any thoughts?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)

Is anyone considering playing an Acolyte?  I wanna let you guys slowly discover things, and if I finish it out I'm gonna have to name some deities in teh class features.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu April 13, 2011, 03:56:52 AM
I guess thats a no.  Stuff is coming soon, I had to call the IRS today and tell them I couldnt pay them (which is why I've been to shot to create).
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Bozwevial April 13, 2011, 11:32:15 AM
Don't worry about it, bhu. Sorting things out takes precedence over the game.

: bhu April 14, 2011, 03:36:19 AM
They were surprisingly cool about it.

I may also have a new temp job so I'm actually a bit happier.

So no one for the Acolyte then?

: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Flay Crimsonwind April 15, 2011, 10:02:36 PM
I'm probably going to go for occultist. I'm possibly naming him Harry Dresden as well, but that'll be up in the air a bit longer.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu April 16, 2011, 01:59:18 AM
So we have a possible veteran, occultist, natural philosopher, and whatever tribble and amechra decide on if they come back.

Arc have you made any decisions yet?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu April 17, 2011, 07:56:42 AM

: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Flay Crimsonwind April 18, 2011, 01:36:52 AM
I'm trying to research local police and what predecessors to detectives were like in the 1760s. And he'll be an occultist, just to nail that down for ya.

I've been out of it recently. I've barely visited these boards at all in the past couple of weeks. If anything I'd still like to do the medium and be an artist, with the character idea based very similarly on H.J. Wilcox from the Call of Cthulhu.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Bozwevial April 18, 2011, 11:38:12 AM
I'm still planning on the natural philosopher. He'll be the town's librarian, so he should (vaguely) know anyone who has dropped by for a book.

Amechra's been away from the boards for a while, I think. Not sure about Tribble.

I hope he's okay.  I wanna split your scientist abilities into two categories.  Minor breakthroughs (for lack of a better word) which will be minor enhancement like the Tech gets in Modern, and Major breakthroughs which have the potential to be society altering (sub warfare, new weapons, etc.)

Im thinking of doing spellcrafting similar to the way Epic spell design is done but with less flaws.

I really have my work cut out for me ^_^;

Anyone have a PC yet?

: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: archangel.arcanis April 25, 2011, 05:48:26 PM
I'm just waiting on the medium to decide if it works with what I want to do and build toward it. Other than that I could just start working on a character of almost any class and artist background to fit the role we need.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu April 25, 2011, 11:30:20 PM
The medium will be basically a sort of psychic warning system that can allow itself to be possessed to communicate iwth beings from outside at personal risk.

also crossposting:

Okay I just learned my mother has decided on permanent retirement, and it;s been decided she'll be staying with me.  SInce I need her to pay half the rent to survive I don't have much choice in the matter.

She is however a bitter, emotionally unstable, controlling sociopath.  So if there is the occasional delay please be understanding.

I'm setting it up to go Charismatic into Spiritualist, but I need to know the requirements and effects of the Medium feat. My character is actually mostly done now. I just need to know about Medium and buy gear. From the looks of it I'll make a good face but will be crap in combat for a while.

here is the sheet (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=293590) so far. It is amazing what you can do in just a couple of minutes.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)

The Medium Feat has no prerequisites other than being taken at 1st Level.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Flay Crimsonwind April 27, 2011, 10:49:54 PM
Here's Harrison "Harry" Dresden (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=293932), without equipment and with the assumption that the point buy is 32 for this game (if you'd like me to roll for them alternatively, gimme a sec to make it happen).

Can't get my files open off my external without the usb cable to link it to my comp, but until I find it, he's an investigative law enforcement officer, who in his off-time does a boat of research on the arcane. He's known to be quirky and odd, but he's good at his job and well educated, so it's overlooked mostly. Most think that his arcane research, if they know about the odd books he carries with him from shady bookkeepers, is simply an obsession with fairytales and childish fantasy - which is what he likes them to think.

And with that build, I can eityher continue in dedicated for some of the sweeter talents, or go straight into occultist at level 4.

Boz is on vacation for a few weeks.  Theoretically I'd like to start when he gets back if possible, or at least start with those who are ready.

Also plz to look at the scientific invention rules for kitteh?  I'm sure some of you know something I may have missed in the list of possible military enhancements.

Still looking for a way to build my character. I'd like to have an overview of everyone's character's roles. My summary so far:

Flay: Scholar?/spellcaster
Amechra (if he decides to join after all): Damage dealer
Arcanis: Face/supernatural radar
Bozwevial: Scholar/crafter

Analyzing this I think I'll add the following to fill in the gaps:

Pip: Tank/tracker/minor skillmonkey

Progression will be Tough -> Explorer -> Veteran.

Also bhu, what's the point-buy are we using? Both Flay and Arcanis used different pb's, so I'm a bit confused.

Permission to mechanically use a slungshot as a chain?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)

Everyone should be using 28 pb.

Lemme look the slungshot up.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: archangel.arcanis May 14, 2011, 11:52:10 PM
pretty sure I used 28 point, because I went looking for the point buy before making the character.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu May 15, 2011, 05:22:55 AM
From what Im looking at the slungshot would be closer to a sap than a chain, it would just still do lethal damage.  They look kinda short.

I peeked at the PC sheets and there are a few skills unavailable in d20 past that some of you have ranks in.  I edited the first post of the PC sheet thread to include info for PC building, so the unavailable skills/feats/jobs are in it.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu May 18, 2011, 07:59:35 PM
Okay as soon as Boz gets back and makes a PC we'll try starting.

So now is the time for questions, such as what you think of the current rules for sanity, the senstive class, etc

Also if possible I'd like a lil background blurb under everyone PC sheets explaining a little about them, what they do to earn money, and how they may know each other or at least some hook for getting you lot involved with one another.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu May 21, 2011, 06:11:52 AM
Boz should be back anytime now, so do please make any corrections to your sheets and come up with some background stories for your PC's.

Plus if there are questions about sanity as written (at least what I have of it), now is the time

I'm here. I like what I'm seeing in the sensitive class so far, look forward to the rest of it by the time I get there. I'm about to look over the sanity rules and such again but they looked pretty good when I looked at them before.

I'm back, guys. I know you're thrilled. :P Sheet tomorrow, or today, depending on which timezone I'm using.

I have a sheet up, albeit one without much of a backstory to it. Have we decided on an equipment process?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu May 25, 2011, 06:56:13 AM
Thought d20 Mod had one, if not will come up with something

Everyone please read post one of the character sheet thread, i notice some of you still have ranks in investigate
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: PipTheBlue May 25, 2011, 08:34:58 AM
None of four sheets has ranks in Investigate as far as I can tell.

I'm unavailable for the rest of the week, but I'll start pondering on a story. I'll fix the equipment later today.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu May 25, 2011, 06:19:29 PM
Excellent.  Perhaps I got the ability mod column confuseded...

All I need now is some background on your PC's, and I'll get you some rules for equipment here shortly.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Flay Crimsonwind May 26, 2011, 07:46:39 AM
I'll have the background done in probably two days, sisters graduation and work is gonna be the only holdup. Sorry for said holdup, guys!

: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu May 28, 2011, 06:05:41 AM
We begin on the 23rd of September 1776.  I made a (very) brief timeline in the info thread.  Now would be the time to ask questions and such.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Bozwevial May 28, 2011, 12:26:59 PM
Since the fires and ship destruction only take place two days before the start of the game and Franklin/Washington only start spreading the news the day before, has word of what's going on had time to reach Wilmington?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu May 28, 2011, 04:58:56 PM
I'd have to look things up, but the ship destruction is not confined to NY, so it's possible you've heard of that.

FLay: Can Harry speak German?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu May 30, 2011, 06:21:23 AM
Okay travel by coach from NY to Philadelphia is 3 days, travel from NY to Boston is 5-6, more if weather is bad.  So it's probably unlikely you guys have heard yet.

Also I have updated the WIlmington and Colonial America posts in the Info thread.  Apparently Wilmington was considered a small backwater town in the late 1700's, but was the largest city in the state by 1840.  Should I pick another city?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Bozwevial May 30, 2011, 09:12:59 AM
Possibly. I don't know if the Outer Banks would be a great place to look (most of those locations would also be pretty small), but it's worth a shot.

Also, I have something up for a background.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: PipTheBlue May 30, 2011, 09:49:38 AM
Do characters receive additional languages according to their starting Int modifier just like in 3.5? Couldn't find it in the SRD.

Also: how big is the town we're starting in (Wlimington or whatever you decide)?

Also also: background is roaming between my documents, waiting for the final touch.

I was hoping for a large coastal city.  Wilmington will be one eventually, but right now it's a hick town.

ALso, you guys may wish to mention in your background how you know each other

Also, much like the rest of humanity you probably don't believe in monsters unless you're superstitious
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Flay Crimsonwind May 31, 2011, 04:10:43 AM
Yes, he can speak German, unless that's an issue, in which case I can make an incredibly valid reason why he's forgotten it.

Anyone got an idea how we know each other, aside from seeing people around town? Only cause I don't yet know each other's backgrounds. Robert and I could very easily know each other through our mutual obsession with superstitious reading.

You automatically speak your native language, additional languages are 1 point each.  You also know how to read/write your native language, each additional one is another point.

Yeah, I suppose, but if we spoke our native tongue only, we'd have to take a skill point for Speak Language: English.  :drums :sofa

Seriously though, Boston would be fine.

: Bozwevial June 04, 2011, 03:17:34 PM
So with the change in location, we'd be more likely to know of the announcement. Works for me.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu June 05, 2011, 06:28:20 AM
each of the locations has advantages and drawbacks

boston i have a map for, and is somewhat british free, but it's overrun with religious zealots.

philadelphia i sort of have a map for, tis the largest city at the time with much invention taking place, and theres less of a british presence i think

NY is ground zero for lack of a better term as much of the city is destroyed by fire, and there will be many leftover marooned british forces fighting over the spoils.  in fact it might be their only beachhead left in the new world with their fleets gone (in out time the british didnt leave till 1783).

Pip and Arcangel I still need character bios for you.

I'm edging towards Philadelphia.  It's a port city like i wanted, you wont be in the immediate shit like you would be in NY, and you wouldn't have bitter religious nutcases like you would in Boston.  Anyone have objections?
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)

Well the appointment went great, they are starting to ween her off of her feeding pump. The aquarium was a bit overwhelming for her though, with a couple of hundred kids there for summer programs running around screaming it was almost too much for me too.

It was ok. I was disappointed that she couldn't enjoy it with the bright eyed wonder she has for most things. The most disturbing thing there is their lack of understanding of geography. They have a room on frogs and one of the cities here has an annual frog festival, they marked this city as being 2 hours away on the interstate. Except it is actually about 4 hours away, google maps wants to contradict me and say 2.5 but I live closer than that and can barely make it in less than 3 hours speeding and not taking rest stops.

...Also, I just noticed that we have a Harry who's an investigator/wizard, a Will who's tough and survival-savvy, a Thomas who's charismatic, and a Bob who's well-versed in arcane lore. Was this intentional on anyone's part besides Flay's?

Possible connections would be:

* I wrote the expedition part before I read Robert's background, so this is a pleasant coincidence.

If you walk along High or Market Street from the river banks, go left on fifth street and take the first right (can't read what it's called, but judging from Google Maps, it's Ludlow street). The McQuillens' house/shop is halfway.

My roll is linked on my sheet down near the bottom. I just can't afford more than a 3PDC for rent otherwise I run out of money. I probably should have bought some other stuff too but there isn't a whole lot of options that make sense, the past book focused on combat equipment IIRC.

Aaaaaaaaand... IT'S DONE!

Possible connections would be:
  • Robert is a childhood friend and partner in crime for his expeditions.*
  • Harry may be interested in what Will screamed at night in the infirmary.
  • Thomas... no idea. Will does have a high survival score, so I he may have tought Thomas where to get his mushrooms :D

* I wrote the expedition part before I read Robert's background, so this is a pleasant coincidence.

I would be VERY interested, yes! And similarly, I would be "living" near the library, but I'd be living in the library. I'll try and come up with a place soon. I wouldn't be surprised if I was renting out a small flat, a la Harry Dresden or Sherlock Holmes.

Oh, and Pip, there is something I think you should read. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dresden_Files)

: PipTheBlue July 01, 2011, 08:58:52 AM
Well, I couldn't find any supplemental rules on how to roll for wealth, so I used the standard SRD way.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: bhu July 01, 2011, 06:28:13 PM
official rules:

Roll 2d4 and add the starting wealth bonus for your starting occupation to determine starting welath bonus

+0 impoverished or in debt

+1 to +4 struggling

+5 to +10 middle class

+11 to +15 affluent

+16 to +20 welathy

+21 to +30 rich

+31 or more very rich

to purchase something roll id20 plus wealth bonus , and you must equal or exceed the purchase dc of the item

obviously it would take forever to list the equipment and mods here.  I can try to find a link for it online to send to everyone (hint)

Let's see. Probably some sort of pistol, assuming it's not prohibitively expensive. The various materials needed for carrying out physical science experiments. Some armor, if it's plausible.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: archangel.arcanis July 11, 2011, 12:02:02 PM
the only equipment I can think of that wasn't purchased already is the story driven stuff that Thomas likely wouldn't carry with him all the time, like his artisan tools (which would likely be heavy), and some extra clothes (given his finances he isn't buying more than the basics until that changes).

The DCs look good. Though I would swap human mutilation and rivers of blood, IMO. Human destruction is disturbing but not unnatural like the river. Also you forgot a DC for the aliens, I suspect 22 since it fits the pattern. And I'm guessing those are meant to be will saves?

the only equipment I can think of that wasn't purchased already is the story driven stuff that Thomas likely wouldn't carry with him all the time, like his artisan tools (which would likely be heavy), and some extra clothes (given his finances he isn't buying more than the basics until that changes).

The DCs look good. Though I would swap human mutilation and rivers of blood, IMO. Human destruction is disturbing but not unnatural like the river. Also you forgot a DC for the aliens, I suspect 22 since it fits the pattern. And I'm guessing those are meant to be will saves?

i based them off the CoC list, yes they're willpower DC's, added the last DC
I think the river of blood DC is lower because you can rationalize it (a horrible battle took place downstream, im not going that way)

clothes business (DC 12)
casual (DC 8)
formal (DC 15)
coat (DC 8)
overcoat (DC 9)
toolbelt (DC 9)

we'll go with the same price for artisan tools as the mechanical tools above

Getting my equipment up now. My apartment got broken into. Comp got stolen, as well as a few other light electronic items, window smashed, etc. Anywho, had to dig out my old 2005 desktop (which is too old to play sc2 properly...) to post. Sorry for the lateness.

Nah, I'll just go with what we have here. Let's see, starting wealth bonus of 10...

An acid vial (DC 6)
A toolbelt (DC 9)
A crossbow (DC 9)
12 bolts (DC 5)
Casual clothing (DC 8)
An overcoat (DC 9)

That should all be essentially free, since it's all below the threshold. Now for the expensive stuff. We'll assume I took ten on each of these.

Advanced mechanical tool kit (DC 20; drops wealth to 9)
Chemical kit (DC 16; drops wealth to 8)
Buff coat (DC 11; drops wealth to 7)

How's that look? This is assuming we don't need to bother keeping track of mundane things like food, shelter, and the like. At first, anyway.

Posting Items, then posting my action. Pumped for this!

Starting Wealth +8:
-Casual Clothing (DC8, -0 Wealth)
-Musket Powder and shot x 12 (DC 8, -0 Wealth)
-Knife (DC 7, -0 Wealth)
-Ferguson Rifle (DC 18, -1 Wealth: W7) - Obviously he'd have an attachment to this rifle...
-Buff Coat (DC 12, -1 Wealth: W6)
-Messenger Bag (DC 6, -0 Wealth) - I'm going with a Contractor's field bag as a base for it, unless you want something else.

Can't really think of anything else he'd have on him at a given time...

Just to be sure:
Wealth Bonus: 2d4 + 2 = +8 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3113396/)
Free stuff:
- Casual Clothing (DC 8)
- Raincoat (DC 8)
- Compass (DC 5)
- Spyglass (DC 7) (from standard binoculars in SRD)
- Flint and tinder (DC I don't care)
- Matchbox (DC I care even less)
- 2x torch (DC 2) (from chemical light sticks in SRD)
- 100 ft. hempen rope (DC 5)
- Maps of Philadelphia and the known new world (DC 3)
- First aid kit (DC 5) (contains bandages, needle and thread and a flask of alcohol)
- Knife (DC 7)
- .57 caliber bullets, 10 shots + gunpowder (DC 8 or so)
- Halberd (DC 6)
- Wooly blanket (DC little)

Expensive Stuff:
- Brown Bess (DC 13) (-1)
- Buffcoat (DC 11) (-1)
- Survivalist's Backpack (DC 10) (-1)

Wealth bonus is now +5.

Note that I won't be running errands with a friggin' halberd on my back, so all equipment that has location "home" or "pack" is not with me at the very start of the campaign.

Okay how does a coach, enough supplies for a week, cooking and camping gear, the maps, and 1 firearm apiece sound?

Whoever is sharing the drivers seat gets an extra dueling pistol, everyone also get a Pennsylvania Rifle (which I will have to make stats for) or a Brown Bess (unless there's something you'd like to request).
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: Flay Crimsonwind July 29, 2011, 03:31:17 AM
Either way, with my rifle handy, I'd like another gun, pistol or rifle I'm not too specific about. Whichever has a higher damage output; Dresden isn't much of a shot, so he likes to make his shots count. At this point, one more shot for a move action is kind of a pleasant thought. I like the sound of this greatly, that stuff seems fine.
: Re: Talkin' like its 1759! (OoC)
: archangel.arcanis July 29, 2011, 11:22:53 AM
I don't think you want to put a rifle in Thomas' hands. He doesn't have personal firearms prof. hence he owns a crossbow and a couple of bolts.

Unless you objected you would be most likely to share the drivers seat with Jones as a lookout, so you would prolly get a pistol for when you're driving, and a rifle for otherwise

Anybody wanting a long rifle can use the kentucky rifle stats from d20 Past it's about the same.  The Brown Bess and it are the two most common firearms where you'll be.

: bhu August 23, 2011, 02:02:05 AM
I'm curious to see where the spells-skills mechanic will go.

All the effects that would normally scale with level will now scale with ranks.  The only question being do i make it progressively harder or static.

Example: Does the spell do 1d6 fire damage with two ranks, and another 1d6 every time you double your ranks in the spell, or does it do 1d6 fire damage per so many ranks.

not that you'll be getting fireballs but you get idea

I corssposted in min/max to no response so I left a nice fanservice pic there to goad conversation for the interested.

yeah I'm here. I've been reading along as best I can. I just didn't have much to say for the game and been having other projects on my plate, like completely re-installing my computer over the weekend thanks to "fixing"* it nuking my data.

*My system has a 3 drive raid5 array, so any one drive fails I don't lose anything. Storms last week took out a drive and my network card. When I replaced the hard drive my raid controller reset all of the drives to single disk, thus making any data on the 2 surviving drives unrecoverable. I learned too late of this bug and had other issues when dealing with my computer, but bug is fixed now with a bios update and the other issues are fixed as well. Plus I now have a 4th drive that is acting as a backup location so I don't lose my documents and saved games again.

For sure! I've got a +8, you a +7, so if you auto-succeed the aid attempt, it brings me up to +10 on my check. Taking 10 gets us a 20, which isn't bad, but I could also gamble with that nice hefty +10. It's a 55% chance we roll a total equal to or higher than 20, so I think it's a good risk.

No no I may have not made things clear.  It's at the end of the street.  As in the opposite end of the street that you are on, not across from you.
Oy, that would have changed things. No matter, I'm going through with this now that I've awoken Boz.

You know that feeling when watching a horror movie and one of the characters just has to open the door to the room with the scary noises, while you keep thinking "don't do it, idiot"? That's the feeling I have concerning Will right now.

Robert already ran outside to find Will, I think. He might actually run into him as Will exits the house.

Same; Dresden knows apparently f-all about the subject, so he's more listening intently, wondering how this all fits together.

I has made an oopsie reading the old maps.  I was under the impression valley forge was slightly northeast of philly, between it and NY.  According to modern maps its slightly northwest...

Thomas doesn't know what to think. He knows strange things happen and isn't going to throw stones at Will over claiming to see a ghost. So he is just going along for the ride at the moment because it is a better life than carving headstones for just enough to pay rent and buy food. At least right now someone else is paying for stuff and he gets to travel.  :lmao

Robert hasn't actually seen anything that defies explanation yet. Weird things, sure, but there's the hope that this all has a rational explanation is still there.
