That's probably not what their intention was when writing it, but that's what the spell says.
It makes sense to me from a RAI point of view. If you save, it can't reduce you to negative hit points. If you fail your save, you take full damage and it can reduce you to Dying or Dead.

Q259: If a first level specialist wizard has both Collegiate Wizard (CArc) and Greyhawk Method (Dr315), how many spells does he gain at first level? How many at each level after? I think it's six normal and two specialist, but Greyhawk Method reads strangely. (Both feats can be found in the Crystalkeep feat index).

Q260: In Tome of Battle the text about learning stances in the classes says that for the levels they become available "you can choose an additional stance."  Does this mean we don't really need to multiclass out to get the 3rd level stances?  Can we simply not choose that allowed stance until we get the appropriate IL?

A260: You could choose not to learn a stance, but you can't choose to delay learning a stance.

A 257: Pretty sure that's a no. The thunderlance isn't technically a weapon, thus not a target for magic weapon. Even if it were, I wouldn't consider that a very efficient use of your spells. Magic weapon is typically cast as a buff before battle since it has a longer duration. This doesn't mesh very well with Thunderlance which is only 1 round/level. Once the thunderlance is out you should be swinging, not buffing.

Is Thunderlance a valid Persist target?

Sunic may be more abrasive than sandpaper coated in chainsaws (not that its a bad thing, he really does know what he's talking about), but just posting in this thread without warning and telling him he's an asshole which, if you knew his past experiences on WotC and Paizo is flat-out uncalled for. Never mind the insults (which are clearly 4Chan-level childish). You say people like Sunic are the bane of the internet? Try looking at your own post and telling me you are better than him.

Is Thunderlance a valid Persist target?

Yes.

Back in the days of 3.0 I always thought it would be marvelous fun to have both a persisted Thunderlance and a Persisted Ghostform (Tome and Blood) going...  be nigh impervious, and kick ass with the lance.

Q262: Must you be able to make two attacks per round (+6 BAB, Haste, etc.) to be able to fire off both Light of Lunia's (SC page 132) rays in the same round?

I was under the impression that the spell took an (standard) action to cast, but the rays were fired as free actions.

Q263:

If I am a Prestige Bard, does that allow me to advance Spellcasting using Lyric Thaumaturge?

Beguiler 6/Prestige BardBard5/Lyric Thau for example.  Valid?

Q264: ToB newbie. Can I be in a stance while using a maneuver? Or is the stance disabled until after the maneuver is finished?

DnD classes is kind of like art. You make lots of stuff that everyone loves but aint no fun to play. This one is like getting a nude pic of Britney Spears when she was hot above your bed.  Anyone can appreciate it. And it works as it should in practise, not just in theory. -Me to Strato regarding his Elemental

A264: Stances are active at all times once you initiate them. Maneuvers don't interrupt them in any way. Good luck with ToB, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Q 265

If a druid is wild shaping as a creature with Swallow Whole (let's say, a Tyrannosaurus) and the duration runs out before a swallowed creature has died, what happens to the (now smaller) druid and the creature in his gut?

Q 267 Is there a metamagic feat which adds the fear descriptor to a spell?

Everything I learned about DnD I learned from Frank Trollman at The Gaming Den... but nowadays, my work space is the New DnD Wiki.

Check them both out!

I think so - check Heroes of Horror.  It might be a PrC ability in the same book.

Q 268: What is the interaction of the Augment Healing feat and the Vigor line of spells? (Comp Div)

Would a Lesser Vigor cast by someone with Augment Healing grant fast healing 3 for its duration?  Would it heal 2 hp's at the casting, in addition to the spell's normal fast healing?
