first time ever playing a sorcerer

And not only is it my first time with that but to really make it fun I'm throwing in unearthed arcana's spell point system and ultimate magic's words of power.

Anyway are there any races, templates, bloodlines(playing a pathfinder sorcerer with 3.5 material also) I should take a look at?

I'm starting at lvl1 so la +0 or maybea total of la +1, my dm might just give it to me for free.

I wouldn't be asking this if I could find a stupid handbook for it but I can't.

This is the first time in awhile I've been excited about a class. I'm really excited.

Also, if your DM allows an LA +1 race for free, then easily your best choice would be a Primordial Half-Giant.  You get -2 Strength and Dexterity, sure, but +4 Intelligence and Charisma, Invisibility at-will, and a few other goodies.

I think I'd still rather have a dragonwrought cheesebold, if it is allowed.

Here's my 2cp for spell selection. Make sure you check out Runestaffs and Eternal Wands, as any way to add to your spells known is a huge boost for the class.

If using UA's Spell Point System, the Wizard still comes out ahead.  We're discussing this now.

Only as it specifically applies to spells, not the theory behind the guides.  Instead of picking spells that offer a variety of effects, pick words that offer a variety of effects.

Actually since I'm using Ulta magics words of power with sp system the sorcerer comesout on top.

As sorcerer:
1)I can use any word I know in any combination at anytime
2)I have WAY more sell points then wizard
3)bloodlines, nice little bonus that doesn't matter but is nice

As wizard:
1)I have to prepare all of my "sentences"
2)a low number of spell points
3)and meh

Theres that Fey bloodline(+2 to compulsions DC) with Crossblooded Serpentine bloodline(Mind affecting and language dependent stuff works on animals, magical beasts and mostrous humanoids) to get a lot of bang out of compulsions. Minion Season!
