MechaGnomes (work in progress)
« on: May 02, 2009, 08:26:02 AM »
Hey all. I'm toying with th idea of dropping traditional gnomes from my homebrew setting and preplacing them with these. Basically the backstory is that the gnomes built these constructs when they learned there civilization was in peril (or something, i havnt figured all the why's yet)

MechaGnomes-small livng constructs
+2 con, -2 Str (built durable but are small)  just like the traditional gnomes.
Small sized (+1 to attack ect.)
Speed 20'
Low light vision (ignoring the normal living construct rule)
Weapon familiarity: gnome hammer (as normal)
+1 vs. kobolds and goblins(as normal)
+4 AC bonus vs. giants (as normal)
As well as all relevent living construct traits

All this seems pretty tame and not very diff. than normal, but this is were i'm not sure were to go. i'm considering letting them retain there bonus to listen, but as artificial beings having a bonus to alchemy due to a sense of smell seems odd. maybe replacing it with a bonus to appraise or crafting? I'm also not sure about there spell-like abilities, should i just swap them out for relevent spells like mend, and repair construct and such, or maybe replace there spells with some other racial abilites?. any insight would be great.
