I don't need any saving, yet, though. I only took 5 out of 14 damage, since I had temporary hit points up. I might NEXT round, though I'm currently at 43 hp out of 48.

:3 Bartholomeow has some choice words for squirrels. They being with "n", end with "om", and usually come in sets of three.

As soon as I hit epic I'm completely unkillable. I'll have 16 HD meaning I auto succeed the ghost level check to come back, and the only thing that would let my guy rest in peace is outside the jesters realm. Of course, he'd want to leave before then, but I've planned for that.

Honestly, my character only gets a total of 10 HD, so she's eventually going to need to find some way to not just completely die once higher levels would be achieved. Some way to buy off level adjustment or something, I dunno.

LOL if you have a +10 LA, using regular LA buyoff method, you can't even begin buying off your first LA until you have 30 class levels, so you can't buy off 1 LA til your ECL is 50

Or you could continue to progress your racial stuff. if your Monster Class is 20 levels, I think it might qualify for having an epic continuation.

It's not exactly LA. It's a monster class, and it only gets 10 HD. The other 10 levels are supposed to be spread out so that all the abilities and boosts you get stay on-par with player characters, but you fall way behind on hp, BAB, saves, and skill points. Not to mention feats. You get a bunch of other cool toys, but one wonders at what point it's not worth it.
Probably the point at which you die a horrible death. :P

even in monster classes, your HD is still considered "racial HD" and your lack of HD is considered level adjustment.
Monster classes are just ways of spreading out a monster's powers and HD to make it "even" at any given level to a character of an equal ECL, and yea, you gotta wonder if it's really worth it :/
EDIT: ACTUALLY, if you think about it, you could "buy off" your LA as you acquire it...

It's still not technically LA. Monster classes are a way to play races that are normally too powerful for PCs to play, and they almost never, if ever, have LA because they're not normally fit for any player to use.
Now, if I could just gain HD somewhat more slowly or something, that might work. That or bhu could choose a handful of extra levels that gain HD, or figure something else out. Otherwise, we'll be leveling up so slowly it probably won't even matter. :P

Welcome back! and as for my contribution, at epic levels I'll be a fun melee beast/cha-abuser. 10 levels in Yojimbo and Ronin each by lv 26 is fuckin awesome; they're capstones make it really difficult to chose which one to complete, but I think pre-epic I'm Samurai 6 / Ronin 10 / Yojimbo 4. 26 is death-day. Sure, I can't make my own dimension, cause I'm not a wizard, and I can't tell my own god to do my bidding cause I'm not a cleric, but I'll have fun, you'll see!

The anti-magic part and the xp part are valid, but the power armor (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cw/20070212a) part is easy, artificers can get better than a single attached weapon, the walking castle line is an exaggeration and artificers can get better (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cw/20070423a), Replace plasma with spell turrets. Further more, the unseen minions an artificer can put in their mobile fortress can actually craft.

Um. Yea pretty much. I don't allow Warforged in games I DM. dragonmarks suck. Symbiotes have been around for a long time and I've yet to meet someone that uses them. Living spells, meh. Flying ships have been around forever, but I'll admit I like their idea of binding Fire elementals to make them work. Action points come from D20 modern. And I have my own homebrewed homunculus which is far more cuddly :P

*I now have internet (thanks to my own determination, some decent tech savvy on my own part, and my modem manufacturer actually knowing how my modem works - unlike AT&T) but the following all still apply. Seriously AT&T, not telling me when the problem was solved? Not a smart move - especially since there were other things wrong that I WASN'T told about . . . *
I hate AT&T . . . just . . . :banghead *internal scream of bloodcurdling rage* (I'm supposed to be studying right now . . . )
They were supposed to have internet to me by last Friday. It wasn't working, so I called them. Guess what data they need on me? Some random, silly number they sent to me in a silly e-mail and DIDN'T SAY WAS IMPORTANT (so I didn't write it down or print it off). Oh, and the department with that number doesn't work weekends. So I have to get this all-important silly number from my e-mail . . . (anyone see the SLIGHT ISSUE THERE?)
Now, I'm still without internet, despite the poor technician coming out and working at my apartment and at the connection box thingy for almost all of yesterday (okay, only about 1/3 of it . . . ) Now they tell me it's something that only people at the main office can diagnose and fix, but that it will be done within 24 hours from sometime yesterday. And they won't tell me when they've fixed the problem. And almost certainly won't be apologizing, when they left me (currently attending school) and my (currently seeking a job) boyfriend without internet for several days longer than we should have been. And most of the friends I can reach are online. Because I just moved.
Anyway, I will probably continue to be slower in posting for the next couple of days, though my school (thankfully) has wifi.

Oh, I knew they were terrible, but it was that or spend $30/month more or get *shudder* DIAL-UP!!!!!!! (DUNH DUNH DUNH!!!!!) So I chose the lesser of the evils. But I still get to whine because I tried to find other options. Also, it's therapeutic. For some reason I'm tempted to play a inspire courage max'd bard that can't speak. He just sings for all form of social interaction. All of his languages would be sign languages, and his only use in combat would be bardic music.

Sorry if I took some extra time, had to work for 9,5 hours straight, with the exception of a 15 minute break when I ate. This was done until 2 a.m. when I realized I had forgotten my key and could not get to my apartment. I ended up walking a few kilometers to a couple of friends and spent the night on their couch.

Basically the boots allow you to consider yourself set against a charge i he charges you before you act in the round I guess.

Seems to me that readying against a charge does allow you to attack, basically he charges, I make my attack, and if they're still standing then their attack goes through. That's how readying most actions work. But does that mean you don't take your next action? I suppose in this case it wouldn't matter since I'd just be attacking a random zombie anyway.

I'd have to see the exact wording to be sure, but if it says you treat all charges as though you had readied an attack against them, then you don't lose any normal actions you have during your round.

Furthermore, as long as you carry a two-handed weapon, you are treated as if you had readied that weapon against any creature that charges you (and thus it deals double damage if your attack is successful), even if the weapon can't normally be set against a charge.

The samurai is an alright melee, giving me a few tricks and some nifty abilities, but I haven't been using my intimidate as much as I'd like. Note that it'll change once I grab ronin, which is either next level or two levels from now.
So far, I like it better than fighter, if that makes you feel better, and it's definitely a tad stronger... though not a whole lot.... I know you alluded to changes to it in the thread, so I'm also waiting to see what that entails.

You know the maneuvers I'm doing for the Pechin? I'd like to make them available to all the Samurai (as well as armed Maneuvers). Think of them as "expend a daily use of ki to gain ability x for the duration of the encounter"

Not at this level. At higher levels I get some nice SLAs and such, but for most of us, without multiple attacks or AoE damage in general, it's hard to 'buzzsaw' through our enemies. These guys don't have a lot of HP, so I'm pretty much one-hit KO'ing them, but only one at a time.

When you use a power that takes 1 round or longer to manifest, you must continue the concentration from the current round to just before your turn in the next round(at least).

Nah dude, hit him with ray of enfeeblement; his strength score just dropped, not his BAB. Still useful though, when a guy wants to jump him from behind.
I've decided to implement terrible gay "that's what he said"s into my charries actions. His color is fuchsia, it should be fine.

take the first B off of "BAB" and you'll get what I'm getting at :P His attack roll probably dropped by 3-4 points. unless of course, he uses wisdom since he's a monk :/

He'd have to have an appropriate feat to use Wisdom for natural/unarmed attacks, and even then he'd still be using strength for damage. Though, Ray of Clumsiness is a similarly good spell, for the purposes or reducing defenses (basically it's Ray of Enfeeblement for Dex instead of Str).

I once had an enchanter who's sole purpose in a teamfight was to erect a stone/iron wall for the giant to knock people into for increased damage. I only did this because he would complain otherwise, since I could almost always effectively end combat in a number of round equal to the number of enemies +1. Enchanters are SO fun :D

I just ran in to my own set of problems :banghead One of the two other guys I live with tends to be late with his rent and as a result of this I have on more than one occasion not been able to pay it to the landlord in time. Now my name has ended up with some debt collectors since I am the one officially renting the apartment :banghead :banghead Got to and sort this out with the landlord tomorrow but I'll have to look in to getting a written contract or something from him where he oblige to pay the rent in time as long as he lives here...

It's based on the CL. for example a +4 longsword has a minimum CL of 12, and a strong aura. a +3 sword has a minimum CL of 9 and a moderate aura. The item should detail the CL and the detect magic chart has a CL gauge.

Could you explain how? Aside from the obvious "upgrades" that come from the fact that it's newer (such as companion menus and such), it's just fallout 3 in another setting with fewer perks and skills.

P.S. Not to make this any harder, but the MM miscalculates the unicorn hit chance. It should be one higher (13 BAB + 7 STR + 3 (horn is magic)=+23 not +22. Also hooves shouldn't be +14 (+13+7-5 secondary=+15))

We need to make sure our opponent doesn't have time to buff. With one or two spells he can probably get his AC high enough we can't hit (or can't hit in often enough to posses a threat) (it can reach AC 29 / 31 vs. the good, using 2 spells, none above 2nd level).
On the plus side it only outsmarts most of us, and it's innate magic circle against good only affects four of us (me, rad, solara, and Venn).
However, we outnumber it almost 20 to 1, with almost half our side listed as expendable (non-critical Npc's, my summoned blob of ectoplasm).
Not all encounters have to be won with force of arms/spells ;)

18 Dex, example spells prepared has both lesser and normal restoration, and you need spectral hand to deliver it safely. It can reach 18 touch AC with relative ease, which will cause problems for your +5 to hit it. Also, it has spellcraft, which will paint you a an important target. And on average it will drop you to about -2 hp in the first turn of attacks. And it has SR 20 (you have CL 5). Don't get too smug. To quote avatar "Don't shoot you'll piss him off!"

Jojo, you really need to learn to take a joke. About 90% of what I say is in jest. I'm well aware about how powerful our opponent is. I was implying that while some encounters can not be ended by spells, most can.
Also, if we need to distract him from buffing himself, then it's probably BEST to use shivering touch so he has to waste a turn using restoration, unless he want's his AC lowered by around 4 points (average roll for 3d6). Most of what I have is a touch attack, so I'm just going to have to hope it stays at the listed (if it's close to SRD example, anyways) 13 touch AC long enough for me to hit it with one debuff.

If we can get his AC down I can give Blinding Spittle an attempt, it is something of a wild card when you fight something that do not rely on armour for his AC. Still, if we manage to blind him we've gained quite a large upper hand

Whether because is race or appearance or whatever, he usually hasn't actively done a crime when the PC's are sicced on him, nor do they usually look for evidence of any wrong doing. It's just assumed he's evil because the plot says he is. If I'm going to introduce a villain, I make sure he's truly worth taking down.

I'm about to be of little use from finals. They're just a few weeks away, but they determine 100% (or practically 100%) of my class grades. And I have a final paper due in < 2 weeks. I hate this - I mean, everyone has the data that shows that suicides go up dramatically when finals start. Why do we still do them? Because everyone else had to, so lawd forfend future generations might not have to suffer as much as we did. *grumbles*.
Okay. Sorry for the random rant, but I know one person who's quit this stuff already.

Also, did I mention that one of my teachers is likely to get fired AFTER this semester because she is (1) not giving us enough feedback on our work to improve, (2) giving us WAY too much work (for a 2 hour class most employers could care less about), and (3) gave us a final assignment worth 60% of our grade that was considered 2x as difficult as it should be. But they won't change it because it's already been handed out. So now I have to balance working on that with studying for my other classes, where only a few students have the same difficulty I'm facing. *Head esplode with rage* /rant
So thanks for your support, guys. I'll be much better after the middle of December. I promise.

We sometimes get snow here, and have for the last two years, but it stays down for 12-24 hours only. It's a good thing, though, because no one here knows how to drive in it and we'd all have collisions the ENTIRE winter if the snow laster. The snowmen are fun, though. Especially when you behead them with a katana. We don't mess with kids' snowmen though. Just teenagers' and college students'.

When I was still in school we had some psycho who had decided there would be no snow days no matter what. So one year everyone got stuck at school overnight because by the time he admitted it was bad and we could go home, the busses couldn't reach the school. I said fuck it and took the 45 minute walk through the blizzard. A ton of people stopped to ask what I thought I was doing cause I should be in school, and drove off when I said everyone was stuck there and they'd let out for the day. Bastards didn't even offer me a ride (not that I would've taken one from strangers).

It depends. The three biggest things that will cause them where I live in Michigan are:
- Lots of ice on the road (the most common)
- Snow falling at a really fast rate, so that the plows can't keep up and/or white-out conditions

I maintain my opinion that you should have been a living harmful spell, because that is still really out of character for a living cure spell. You're a pure, distilled, living essence of curative magic. I can't think of a situation in which you would be bloodthirsty or in which you'd demand carnage. The only benefit is you could then heal people, but it's still off-kilter.

I'd suggest using [ pre ] tags instead of code (so it doesn't go into its own box and so you can use fonts and bolding and the like). You can make your tables in Notepad or any other program with a fixed width font, then just copy/paste them into the forums. Remember that tabs are replaced by three (3) spaces on the forums, rather than advancing to a fixed multiple of characters, so plan for that accordingly when you make your tables.

I love this sentence, and I love you. It is obvious this world has tainted us already, if the thought of taking on an artifact-enhanced necromancer is alright because in the space of a few hours we've riled up the local military and law enforcement, gathering them under our banner to fight said threat.
Strikes me as particularly crazy, particularly this campaign, and particularly awesome.

They do not use near enough spice for goat. Add some broth and carrots as well as increase the amount of oregano for the stew (a minimum). The stroganoff need at least two more cloves of garlic, some more red wine and one smaller onion, some regular cream could be nice as well but is optional. And that's just for starters [/chef mode]

Just realised I should probably give you guys a heads up. I'll head to The Land Down Under on the 5th of Feb and may be absent for two or three days since it's one heck of a long way, I'll be jet-lagged and I am going to spend some quality time with my family down there once I arrive. After that I'll probably be somewhat alert for for almost two weeks until I'll head to Borneo and walk into the rainforest for another two weeks. Once on Borneo I will probably find internet somewhere, thing is, I will probably not know when beforehand so feel free to NPC Bill in my absence.
It's really hard to keep yourself calm once you realise you are one month away from what might turn into the most awesome 4 weeks of your life(so far), so excuse me if my English take a turn for the worse until late Feb...

Also, Savorel seems to be turning into a crossbow sniper. Maybe I should give her some offensive spells, or give her the feat that uses her charisma bonus for bow attacks. We'll see.

I'm okay - didn't even wake up sore today, like everyone said I would. Spent most of yesterday desperately trying to find something to bake, though. I hope they are, too, but mostly I'm annoyed that I can't drive my car until their insurance gets off its rear end and decides to pay to fix it. Or I might have to get a new car - my current one is 12 years old, and has been in 4 or 5 other accidents (none of which were my fault, except the very first one).
Sorry for being spacey on posting lately, anyway. If I'm gone for too long, go ahead and play Savorel as an NPC - she pretty much either heals or shoots things with her crossbow.

On a completely unrelated note, I just realised I had my last mandatory lecture before I can call myself a Bachelor even when I'm not talking about my marital status (in late May) yesterday, so I might just be able to stay up a little longer. I'm feeling pretty useless in combat, just shooting my crossbow, right now - I don't have any attack spells (I'm fine with that) or any buff spells that can really benefit you guys, and my healing is pretty outclassed. So, please, think about any buff spells you'd like. Maybe I can at least learn them as I level, or (hopefully) I can change some of my spells known to be more useful?

I have now seen a real-life platypus :D (it made me feel all kinds of warm and squishy inside). The Aussies are really nice, I have eaten kangaroo, the ginger ale is way better over here than it is back in Sweden and my cousin just dropped off a shitload of cupcakes. The only "bad" thing so far is the fact that I forgot to pack my socks. Overall, this is one great trip

originally the CPU fan was making a ton of noice and had a vibration to it
then got error
friend cleaned and lubed fans, now they appear to run normally
get PC back home fiddle around on net and then shut off
come back later and the goddamn fan error is back so I start looking on google

I'm doing some (lots) of rebuilding. Anybody have a good first level feat for a character based on melee attacks and ranged touch attacks? I'm already taking Improved Natural Attack for Claw and Bite, need a last feat. One that doesn't have a BAB requirement. My first level is still in Cat Burglar.

You have multiattack? Only requires 3 natural attacks (ie: claw, claw, bite). As for ranged touch, obviously point blank shot and precise shot aren't too bad, though they'll have pretty quickly diminishing returns. Other than that I'm not sure. Improved Initiative never hurt anyone. *shrug*

A few items up to X value? If it is gear, it'd be nice to know what sort of limit there is otherwise some could ask for one thing and others for something else, and you'd still have people coming out ahead of others. Or, are we able to ask for things that don't technically exist in the books, since we're asking for something from a deity?

Both flay and I seem to have the same total added up, and consequently seem to have the highest xp count. If I were guessing, I'd say some people haven't updated their sheets after every tussle. Could be some other misunderstanding, though. *shrug*
I'm good with whatever we decide to go with, though I'd certainly hope for at least bumping up a level. ;)

Yeah, it's really expensive. It would basically replace the +1 Holy Surge Greatsword I have. But seriously, I wasn't expecting to get the sword yet. Kind of expected the metamagic rod and maybe have the sword I have's composition magically altered from steel to adamantine, or something (which would be roughly 6000 gp worth of loot, appropriate for the level). A +1 Holy Adamantine Greatsword costs 21,050. That's more than the entire wbl for a 7th level character, much less a 6th level character with other items. I seriously don't mind if you retroactively scale back. :o

Also, the adamantine thing is just an extra thing I thought of last-minute. I liked the idea of having a sword that could cut through "nearly-anything" but Ghaele don't explicitly carry adamantine holy greatswords, just holy greatswords. And once again, I took holy surge before so I'd have a low-level, "lesser" equivalent. I'm really ok with not having Holy yet, because that really adds quite a bit to the cost/value of the weapon.
Just take the sword and say thank you. It might be expensive for us, but for a god it's pocket change.
Also, if you get less, everyone else gets less.

I believe that we were using average hp.
On a side note because I am so awesome everyone gets a +4 bonus on saves vs fear for being within 30' of me now :D (morale bonus so no affecting mind affecting immune characters.... who dont need bonuses vs fear anyway)

Energy Drain.
For your claws.
On that note, The speed weapon enhancement on both your claws sould give you 4 claw attacks.
Make 4 saves, for each you fail, take a negative level. Negative levels are nasty.
Also,because the ability is Energy drain, you gain 5 temporary hp per negative level.
Note: Normally, There isn't a save to resist gaining a negative level. The save is to stop it being permanent after 24.
Also, for RobbyPants, Might I suggest the Gauntlets of Infinite Blades? It Creates Temporary Daggers, and has a few charges each day to make the daggers better.

Those gauntlets inspired a character of mine, and bhu's not a hard-ass about out-of-the-book items staying that way; my DM allowed for more charges, and later perm enhancements (never to anything past +6 daggers with charges) on that, and it inspired a wicked character who was build around the good ol' daggers. Really want to dig him up now...
I've decided to focus on getting done with Ronin, with maybe a 1 or 2 level dip into yojimbo at some point if I really need it. Nintai is what sold me, though really the Yojimbo capstone is perfect for a ronin-enhanced samurai. I'll be fighting with myself for that one; you've made some appeallingly difficult to decide between classes, bhu! Gonna write a report on the class as I like it and thoughts on long consideration at some point.
As for this charrie though, I'm probably gonna go ronin, and pick up leadership for a ninja onna-bugeisha/kagemusha, and the start of his rise as a leader of men after his descent to darkness. Yep, I've thought a lot about this charrie's potential development, and because of that, I've got more to ask you about, bhu, specifically regarding the awkwardness of leadership and this classes role in a non-period campaign.
Also, I'm gonna be focusing the hell out of charisma, so what items do you guys know of benefit from a high charisma, such as cha to damage (were there not heartfire gauntlets making cha-to-dmg as fire dmg somewhere?) or AC (a bastardised monk's belt)? To make it a +1 Flaming Necklace of Natural Weapons affecting two, it'd cost 600+2(8000)=16600, and so on.

Since most of your abilities in that class have saves based on Cha, I'd go for that poison ability to make sure everything else hits if you could lower the save initially. With so many party members, someone can definitely help screw that up for people, if you yourself don't have the ability.

I agree that the Poison abilities looks good, but so do the level drain and pounce abilities, so it really comes down to what fits your character more - weakening or poisoning those you hit, or being a flying furball of fury (that's how I'd describe the pounce ability). The ability that gives you natural armor is pretty nice, too, but if you're not getting hit too much then I wouldn't worry about it yet.

Sure a Lion totem (Complete Champion) Whirling frenzy (unearthed Arcana) barbarian wouldn't be a nicer way to gain pounce? Spiritual connections to a lion fits the character well, as does gaining speed instead of endurance from a rage.
It's a barbarian, but trades fast movement for pounce and changes you rage to be fast and furious (extra attack, all attacks at -2). plus some extra hp, and full bab. Plus you can probably still have a level of phantom cat, I think, which means energy drain and pounce. Sadly not, phantom cat needs Harrowed 5/CB 1 to enter.

They help spontaneous casters - a certain number of times per day, you can cast one of the spells in the staff by expending a spell slot of the same level.
Ex: a runestave lets you cast heart of earth 3/day. So three times a day, you can expend a spell slot of [I forget what level] to cast heart of earth.

The thing I hate about them is you need the spell on your spell list, so they do nothing for classes like the Beguiler or Dread Necromancer.

Runestaves help prepared casters, too. Can't believe I got that wrong. Anyway - to use a runestaff as a prepared caster, you just expend a prepared spell of the same level as the one you want to cast from the runestaff.

The mace of oppression would work for rebuking anyway due to the way the rules for it are written.
Any item that gives bonuses to turn undead also gives bonuses to rebuking but not the other way round because rebuking is "As Turn Undead"

Something with the hardware it seems, my fan has been weird lately so it probably needs a good cleaning, aside from that, I don't know. I tried looking into it myself, but once I saw the inside of my laptop I realised I was in way over my head. According to the guys at the store they'll have it up and running in a week and fortunately on of my flatmates let me borrow his laptop that he's barely used since he bough himself a stationary a year ago. I can base it on Command Undead usable at will for 12000 GP (but you wont be able to control intelligent dead) or Control Undead for 154,000 (and they'd still get save). We can work on lowering the price through limitations if need be.

Sadly im not Control Undead is a 7th level spell which makes it damn expensive to use at will.

Well, Control Undead is actually a pretty terrible spell, considering it only lasts Minutes/level... Bleh, it's so sad that Clerics make better necromancers than Wizards :/
