"I've been wanting to try this one out. Lucky you, getting to be the first one to see it."At the same time, Ayu slammed his palm onto the searing chest plate of the monster. Instead of burning, however, his hand acted as a conduit for the energy he had built up inside himself. It flowed out of Ayu and into the best, then exploded outward, leaving tiny fractures in the chitinous armor. Nothing else was disturbed, even the dust in the air that the two combatants had thrown up in their skirmish remained floating in its same lazy patterns of swirls and eddies. Its job done, the light faded away once more.
Attempting to quickly capitalize on the opening he had created, Ayu went to tap Yoshimitsu for a rapid strike. He acted too quickly, however. With the light within gone once again, Ayu's arms felt much heavier than they had just previously, making his strike all too easy for the beast to swat away.
Ayu's breathing had become deep and ragged as he fell back a few steps. The battle was coming down to the wire; it was getting harder and harder to dodge the attacks each time they came. He could tap into Healing Whale if he got beat up a little, but it would do no good if he got put down in one shot. With any luck he'd survive the counterattack just long enough to deliver his own and end this thing; he had to, so he could move on and someday fight the real version of this monster.
