fake-tangent ...
MP3s
always sound to me like a wicking noise is happening.
The local student radio station used to play them, and it sounded worse.
I hated it.
So I never used MP3s intentionally.
These days I can get streaming music --- relative to the listening environment I'm in.
Loud public library = it doesn't matter the quality.
Work + way too many interruptions = same prob.
Car + car noise + traffic noise + boom box pimpmyride boy = wtf I thought I was listening to music.
Good and
quiet listening place and not doing anything else = CDs
Still the gold standard (or is that "
gold" standard).
If music is the 2nd place or 3rd place brain activity, while other more important things go on,
I don't think it matters all that much what delivery system gets used.
Except for when gf says: "Are you listening to me!"
Then you get the doghouse ... where you can listen to all the music you want (wink).
Empty movie theatre with massive subwoofers, and
nobody else in it !!
Beea - yoo -tee - fullll !!
CD quality with just the dead sound compression = even snooty classical mags like it.
Piped into fully enclosed Headphones with the basic cheap cellphone external noise dampening.
(idk what , I'm just grousing)
Terabytes of storage takes care of all that.
