Well, please do not resume your waiting. :P

Have your PC assume the ones that didn't speak are mute if you must. Otherwise we'll be there still in a month.

What year are we playing in? Just trying to figure how long ago this happened.

I know that by the history of the region, assuming we follow the set time line, it would have to happen before -450 DR. With the lack of mention of the Netheril Empire though... It is more likely it was before -3859 DR

I don't know all that much history, but BP gave me some latitude and I wanted to give a feel for how truly ancient this was. If BP doesn't like it I can edit tho...

Truly ancient falls into before -3859 DR, don't worry about it.

Ok, I will have to say I know less about Faerun history than you, Sohala. So unfortunately... canon history is off the moment someone says something contrary. This world is a lot different than canon FR. We've got trains, wheelboats, and level 10 commoners abounding.

Point is, (and I've been meaning to adress this, earlier), character backgrounds can rewrite history. If Thistle says there were green fields, sure enough there were. And the empire he originated from is probably not present in canon history, either. The whole business with the netheril empire and the shades, etc... it doesn't really fit this timeline. So it may take place ages before or after this story. (And Lolth is most certainly not silent at this point in time, for anyone wondering about the Drow.) So Anauroch history is a special case, even, as there is a lot of fluff that totally contradicts what I have envisioned as the setting for this tale. Of course, if you want to make a point using canon history... sure enough, you can do that, too. Just don't be too unhappy if I go ahead and change parts of it - purposefully or out of ignorance.

Now I understand that having a looser timeline sometimes makes it hard for history-savvy PCs - you can't just look it up in the sourcebook to know it with certainty. So just ask whether there will be any problems in assuming certain things. It's the best I can offer you, I'm afraid. On the bright side, we can be very flexible, and not worry too much about canon :).

Total tangent, in case noone noticed: This game has been going now for over two years, although we missed the second birthday. (which was in June, actually, AFAIK). Way to go, game, congrats to everyone involved.  :clap

(And now ignore this post and pay attention to the previous one.)

Glad to be a part of it gentlemen. :D

And I figured it was safe to presume that the once great desert was once a green place since desertification is something that happens over time.

And I admit I don't really have a keen idea on who the Makers were either aside frombeing humanoid beings with great arcane and technological knowledge.  They are a cipher even to my character.

Then have Mag be lost as well. Mael has no clue what is going on either, he just pretends. :)

Just tell me when you reach an impasse, I'll do what I can do improve group cohesion. Good old B-movie techniques should still work :).
When did biggen move over to Mr. dwarf? Eh, never mind, I can use it.

The Marc continues to stomp around taking stock of the citadel and the state of utter abandonment.

When the dwarf mentions the portal he stomps over.

"Ah the portal..."
BP, would the Marc remember something about the portal from the days when this place was still bustling?

Gotcha, missed the stomping over part.  :banghead

Dammit I'm totally left out right now :(. I have no meaningful NPCs down there. I have to... intervene on another route.

Sigh, ok guys I hate to do it but I'm going to have to drop out. I haven't posted in forever and honestly I haven't even been on these forums in weeks. Such is life between the PhD, two part time jobs, a girlfriend, and a house to maintain.

Anyone may feel free to use Mag as an NPC. I can provide the spec sheet upon request.

It was a good run.  :)

And those are all the right reasons... congratulations (and good luck!)

I'm wondering what this means for the game?  We have how many active players?  3?  Halfling, Dwarf, and construct monstrosity?

Damn, I'm sorry to see you go, Surreal. You were a fun guy to play with. GOOD LUCK to you.

Well, we all have to have priorities. I'm surprised you even manage all those real-life things you listed...

For the game... well, it means I should go back to recruiting. The number of original players is now down to two. BUT we still SHOULD have four players, although Snizor hasn't been very active, either, lately. I do need him, soon, though.

We'll see. I am very patient, and not opposed to change, but I would hate to give it up. We have a lot of very fun characters in here, which likely as not you won't EVER be able to play anywhere else. So I can only hope that this is enough motivation to stick with me through these troubles. :)

So... I'm guessing you do need my input now in the game thread. I'll get to that immediately.

Ack. Life strikes again. How many more gamer casualties will we have to suffer before someone puts an end to its reign of terror?!

Poor guy...

Assuming you were okay with it, would idols being made of rare metal, be allowed to be reforged, figuring of course they are not magical already.
