Your Demiplane as a Cohort
« on: November 05, 2010, 11:45:29 AM »
Ingredients:

Living Spell (Precipitate Complete Planar Breach)
Wish (To make the Breach Linked to your Demiplane)
Cohort (Something/Fiend of Possession, to Control the Living Spell, its much more reliable than Ooze Puppet)

Then Planeshift to your demiplane and stand in the middle of the planar breech, your Cohort moves for you and you just stand still.

Here are the tricks you can do with this:

Sanctum Spell Feat: +1 free heighten.

Node Genesis + Metanode Feat: Now you bring your Node with you! Up to +10 free metamagic per spell (Evil and Earth Node) and +10 CL.

Evil Planar Trait + Enhanced Magic: Evil + Corrupt Spell/Wizard Planar Substitution Levels: Now all your spells are empowered and widened for free, tack on a Soul Tick for another Empower effect (Actually it seems it could be anything from widened and maximized or extended or anything really).

Fast Time Trait: Many more actions than you really need!

Im sure there is other sillyness you can do.

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.

Yeah Im thinking he has a pitted black iron throne to sit on while the ooze cohort moves around for him. He'll be moving at only 20 feet per round but the idea of sitting on an evil mobile throne wherever you go is very appealing. You might even be able to turn the throne into some kind of wondrous item that gives you madd bonii or some such while your ass is planted on it.

Niice.

Psi has a 3.0 PrC that turns a psicrystal into a Demiplane at 10th level.
Since that demiplane has actual substance, like hit dice and hit points,
the "class levels" of the psi(demiplane)crystal goes to A.H.
Ridiculously Big Guy Is With Me (inverted).
'Course then the demiplane does a Mind Switch with the originating psion.
Heh.

Have a cohort who's a Mistling fey to get the living spell, I presume?

Mistling Half fey lesser planetouched sucks up like 8 LA or something, but shenanigans can get you a living planar breach for eight hours 3/day.

There's always this throne/construct. It's extremely expensive but totally awesome.

To start, the link to the wizards site is for a throne guardian construct, not a throne construct. But, anyways; this is all very wishy-washy. I mean, theoretically, the wish spell can do anything and solve any problem us min/maxers come across when trying to perfect builds, but the reason we don't simply solve all of our problems with a wish casting is because that's the theory, not necessarily the reality. Wish has a few specific effects it will always succeed in doing but everything else is up to DM discretion and if you're too greedy (as in the case of a min/maxer) can result in you're wish being most disastrously mistranslated. The point of min/maxing is to create something powerful without DM intervention, otherwise you could simply have the greatest build be: Ask you DM to make your character a God. And you're good to go. I like the idea, and it's so close to perfection, but you have a very weak link in your chain if you're relying on wish to produce an otherwise unproduceable effect.

I know its the only real flaw in the plan, but unfortunately precipitate planar breach doesn't allow you to choose the plane that it breaches, and there is no real way to make a living spell.

If you can nab the Conjure Living Spell ability of Mistling fey (Forge of War), you can make a living spell. Way too pricy in terms of LA, though, so some creativity is needed here.

So you end up stuck in an endless loop, unable to act, forever.

In retrospect, much like Keanu Reeves.

I know its the only real flaw in the plan, but unfortunately precipitate planar breach doesn't allow you to choose the plane that it breaches, and there is no real way to make a living spell.

The living spell template may be odd, but it's description says nothing about it's exemption from other template rules. All you should need to create a living spell is a caster who knows the spell you want to apply the template to and a ritualist who knows the ritual needed to apply the template, (which could be one and the same person) if nothing else the wish major ritual will work, as per Chapter 11: Becoming a Monster from Savage Species.

Also, though your build is acceptable there's a much more direct way to handle it. Seeing as you have to waste a feat on Leadership already, you should just awaken the living spell rather than possess it; things you awaken tend to take a liking to you anyways and make good flavor for cohorts. A living spell gains the ooze type, which means it can be the target of an Awaken Ooze spell (DragMag 304 p38).

Also, for anyone more interested in living spells, and who knows, maybe it will help out with the build, there's an entire prestige class all about them, the Spell Sovereign (DragMag 357  p76-80).

Huh, the spell sovereign is actually pretty neat, I think its worth taking a real look at for the purposes of this build, though even though I like it I am loathe to include Dragon Magazine as not every DM will allow it.
