Anyone very good with bards?
« on: October 26, 2010, 02:41:31 PM »
I initially had this posted in the D&D Deliberations board and was told I might have better luck over here.

I usually play fighter-types, but I'm trying my hand at a bard for a new campaign, so I need help. It's ninth level, and it's short, so there will not be very much, if any, character advancement.  I had this idea of taking Leadership and fixing myself up with another bard cohort, and I was wondering if there was a feat out there that would allow multiple bards' abilities to stack as far as determining DC for bard abilities.  Does anyone know of a feat/feat tree that would do this?  Any and all 3.5/Pathfinder books are fair game.

I used to sleep with an elf bard.  Seriously, 5 feet tall, great singer, professional tap dancer.

Not sure why I felt like sharing that.

ANYWAY, Look up Dragonfire Inspiration.  Note, the different elemental damage stacks.  Also stacks with normal bardic music.  Check out the maximizing inspire courage thread.

Yeah actually have your bard cohort do dragonfire inspiration (say sonic) and you do dragonfire inspiration (say fire).

Dragonfire inspiration is in the book Dragon Magic; check it out.

Very cool idea!  My inspiration was Metalocalypse, so I really wanted these two bards aiding each other and wrecking everyone else, and how metal is fire-sonic damage? \m/

The Bard's Handbook and Breaking Down Inspire Courage may be worth looking into.

Be a warblade/bard with song of the white raven, hit people in their head while singing (sonic), have you cohort be your lead guitarist (electric), give him leadership as well, and have his cohort be the master of drums (fire). Then have two of your followers be a second guitarist (normal Inspire Courage) and a Base (Acid)

Go crazy with your at least +8-16d6 of damage on everything you hit your enemies with.

Here I have a character Portrait for you even:  ;)

EDIT I think you messed up the link for the bards handbook.

I do remember a thread on GitP about an all bard band.

Also, there is The Disciple of Metal, but I'm pretty sure it's homebrew.

Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

Yes, I'm the 3.0 "Masters of the Wild" shifter, the awesome kind. My favorite form to take is Force Dragon. Yes, I am immortal ... My character is hands down the coolest guy in the campaign and there is nothing I could possibly want.
