Smaller miniatures for gameplay
« on: October 02, 2010, 03:14:08 PM »
The way I run combat within my campaign is by projecting a map onto an lcd monitor that is facing upwards. The legs of the monitor have been removed and it sits on its rear side. I then make a map in photoshop (see sig) and project it. I have a sheet of plexiglass on it to keep the players from breaking it. On that sheet of plexiglass we place "miniatures", which are just cut up wooden dowels to various sizes. This works ok for now but it's hard to tell who is who sometimes.

My question is, are there any really REALLY small miniatures, about half an inch wide or smaller, that I could buy? I know battlefleet gothic has some, but those are mainly futuristic figurines.

I don't have any specifics, but I would suggest looking into some board games. Its not uncommon for board game mini's to be a bit smaller than standard mini's.

I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-Kiri rock! I need scissors! 61!

If the surface is clean use M&Ms for monsters.
Eat em when they die.

Actually done this before. Used Gummi bears, M&Ms, Skittles, and mini marshmallows. It turned into horrifyingly un-tactical combat, as everyone started killing the ones they preferred, instead of what was the biggest threat.

A gygaxian dungeon is like the world's most messed up game show.

Behind door number one: INSTANT DEATH!
Behind door number 2: A magic crown!
Behind door number 3: 4d6 giant bees, and THREE HUNDRED POUNDS OF HONEY!
They don't/haven't, was the point. 3.5 is as dead as people not liking nice tits.

Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.

Though sometimes, the surgeon (DM) botches them pretty bad...
Best metaphor I have seen in a long time.  I give you much fu.

Seven for the Barbarian-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Monks doomed to die,
One for the Wizard on his dark throne

That is the perk for the DM.:D

Miniatures come in smaller sizes than the old standard 25mm and WotC's 30mm scale. You can find 10mm and 15mm stuff online still

Here's a couple links, more could be elicited from google :
