As before, it seems to be pointing into the center of the rubble pile that the vrock was perched upon, or maybe slightly underneath it. You get the feeling that your destination lies under the rubble, and that you're going to have to dig to get to it.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
So, is that going to take strength checks, or will carrying/lifting capacity take care of that?

It's just going to take time, and carrying/lifting capacity. You're going to need to move a few tons of rubble, much of it in small pieces. It's also inside of a dead magic zone. So it's going to just be a matter of lifting and carrying loads of it over and over again.

Unless you can come up with a better way of moving it...
"Well, unless anyone has a better idea, I'll try to move as much of this as I can." Cade cracks his knuckles and moves toward the rubble. He begins the task of removing it, as efficiently as possible.

Xuuvosic rolls his eyes at Cade, although which comment has caused the reaction is unclear. "OK, here's the plan. Everybody but Raoul and Shlurshech start pushing rubble onto the fucking Cloakers. Soon as Oaxool is full, Cade you drag him away a bit and help him get out from under all the shit. Raoul and Shlurshech stay outside the zone and stay ready. Everybody eyes sharp. Got it?"

"As good a plan as ever for me. I'm almost literally dead weight inside a dead magic zone." Raoul shrugs.

The pile of rubble is represented by the grey circles. Please tell me in coordinates (like x-5,y+8) where you are (if moving, say x3,y3 and x6,y6 to pile rubble, etc). The dead magic zone extends approximately 3 squares out from the rubble pile on all sides.

Also, if you have any (Ex) sensory modes worth noting (blindsense like Ris-Janna, etc), please let me know.

"I suppose we have little choice." Marlowe gets up and walks briskly to the pile of rubble, hesitating in distress at the dust that Cade is already stirring up. "And I also sincerely hope our friend is as good at tailoring as he is at perverting magical requests."

Cade starts following X's directions, loading heavy pieces of rubble onto the cloaker. When directed to stop, Cade will then drag outward from the pile.
There's nothing explaining exactly what the Huge grey squares are. Are they just large structures, part of the building?

Not sure where the cloaker is supposed to be, or which direction we came from. I suppose (x-2, y-4) is as good a place as any for my centerpoint.
"We can fix the 'almost'," Ris-Janna comments. Nevertheless, she starts hauling rocks herself, for all the good it will do.
Half heavy load is 100 pounds. I actually had to look that up. I... don't think it's ever really come up before for me. Ever.
Xuuvosic scrambles smoothly onto the rubble, directing one of the ghoulish Cloakers to act as a net for Cade to pull rocks, tons at a time, onto the vampiric Cloaker. The foul mouthed fiend, then puts his entire body into pushing much smaller debris onto the remaining ghoulish Cloaker.

Xuuvosic x0 y0 (push/drag 1312)
Oggug x3 y2 (secondary cart, push/drag 9200)
Uvorix x-2 y-4 (Cade's net, push/drag 9200)
Oaxool x-3 y-3 (primary cart, push/drag 12000)
Kaemarah x1 y1 (blindsense 60', push/drag 3500)
Hannavrah x3 y1 (push/drag 1300)
Shlurshech x-9 y-1 (mindsigh 250', outside of AMF right?)
Erlking x2 y1 (push/drag 2600)
Siphsis x3 y2 (Zen Archery, push/drag 2600)

With your combined efforts, it takes only mere seconds to move enough rubble to see that you've partially unearthed an ancient, underground chamber that was buried in the rubble. Within it, you hear a growing humming sound, and see a purple glow coming from underneath the last of the rubble. Unfortunately, all of the digging undermines the crumbling spire that the vrock was perched upon and causes it to fall crashing to the ground.
Everyone within the area of x0, y0 to x-5, y-5 make a DC 20 Reflex save, or take 8d6 bludgeoning damage (save for half).

Concealment within 5 feet, total concealment beyond that, 50 foot radius centered on x0-3 y-3.
A great cloud of dust rises up in the aftermath, blocking vision over any appreciable distance. In the rumbling and dust, something monstrous breaks from under the ground underneath almost the entire party. It's chitinous bulk seems to be covered in spines, and numerous clawed pinchers swipe and claw at everyone nearby it in a whirling frenzy of rage.
a large beetle-like creature appears centered at x1,y1. It attacks everyone within a 20 foot radius (Xuuvosic, Kaemarah, Erlking, Oggug, Hannavra, Siphsis, and Marlowe): Attack/damage rolls, in that order. If you're hit, make a DC 20 fort save or be dazed.

And Marlowe needs to make an opposed grapple check (DC 16: 1d20+14=16) or be dragged back under the ground with it as it retreats). After this surprise round, I'll roll initiative for it, and we'll keep your guys initiative, if that's OK.

1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [20,13] = (33)
1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [3,1,6] = (10)

1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [4,13] = (17)
1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [2,4,6] = (12)

1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [14,13] = (27)
1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [2,1,6] = (9)

1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [13,13] = (26)
1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [2,4,6] = (12)

1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [5,13] = (18)
1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [4,2,6] = (12)

1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [20,13] = (33)
1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [2,4,6] = (12)

1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [11,13] = (24)
1d20+13;2d4+6 ? [3,2,6] = (11)
I suppose that hits since we're in a dead magic zone.

Fortitude save and grapple check (1d20+10=23, 1d20+8=11)

So not stunned, just grappled.
Marlowe manages to move a bit before one of the claws leaves a large gash along his side, staining his clothes with yet more blood, and jerks him off his feet.
Not sure if we're just assuming I'm in the same spot I started in for easiness' sake, but that's what I'm going with. Assuming dead magic zone, so no superior resistance. I've got a +3 to my saves from something and can't figure out where it's coming from, so I'm assuming it's some other magic source, so leaving it out of my roll. This leaves me with only +14 Actually, I just checked and apparently, Willow Step is Supernatural for some reason. I would have guessed it to be (Ex), but I guess I can't argue with what's there right now. I also forgot to reduce the item bonus... That means I've got... +8 total bonus to my Reflex, instead of +23. Wow, that's quite a difference!

Reflex: 1d20(14) + 14 11 = 28 25

Does everyone take different damage from the falling debris, or are we rolling independently? It's all from the same object, so shouldn't it be rolled once and applied to everyone in its area?

Also, what roll do you want to try and identify the monster? If it's Nature, I'm out. :D
I think I said somewhere that we would house-rule most of the Tome Monk's abilities to be Extraordinary. I'll roll the damage once, and it will apply to everyone. I meant to do that in my last post...

Debris Damage: 8d6=35

Either Dungeoneering or Planes would work to ID this thing, I guess.

Let's see, no magic means no +3 Dex, no +6 Ref, and no Evasion.
Ref save (1d20+14=25)
RJ takes 17 damage (rounded down from 17.5). Come to think of it, I forgot to define a spot for her, so let's put her at (-2,-2) or so. Does that necessitate the creature also attacking her?

YES. :D

1d20+13=29, 2d4+6=12

If that hits, make your DC 20 Fort save or be stunned.

Edit: No, actually. You'd be just outside of its reach.
Raoul looks stunned as they are attacked by the huge subterranean monster. And then he realizes they're still inside the Dead Magic Zone.

"Holy crap, I'm useless!"

So he does the only sensible thing at that moment. He pulls a pipe from his pocket and lights up.
Move action to remove pipe, standard action to puff.

Alright, that makes my Reflex save 25. Edited into the above post to reflect that.

As for knowledge...
Dungeoneering: 1d20(11)+7=18
The Planes: 1d20(5)+9=14

So... not so good. >_> <_<

Also, nearly forgot that Tome Monk doesn't have Evasion. Lightning Reflexes is starting to look like a not so bad feat now. :P
