Low level ways to boost Hide checks?
« on: September 25, 2010, 03:18:02 AM »
Thanks for reading!

I have a character who is currently in a game. He is a 1st level Duskblade and has taken the max amount of cross-class ranks in the Hide skill.

My question is how can I increase the Hide check other than using a psionic tattoo of Chameleon and a masterwork hide tool?

Blend Cream from Complete Adventurer gives a +2 alchemical bonus to Hide.
I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

Why would you even do this? It hurts my eyes and looks like you ate your keyboard before suffering an attack of explosive diarrhea.

If using Genesis to hide your phylactry, set it at -300 degrees farenheit.  See how do-gooders fare with a liquid atmosphere.

50gp Tool, Masterwork: This well-made item is the perfect tool for the job. It grants a +2 circumstance bonus on a related skill check (if any). Bonuses provided by multiple masterwork items used toward the same skill check do not stack.

get a Masterwork Tool to boost Hide(exa: Dark Blue velvet cloak)

also:
Darkweave(Eb p121)Dark cloth that magically includes strands of shadow.
Clothes made with Darkweave grant a +1 Circumstance bonus on Hide checks. standard +100gp

It's an investment of feats, but as a Duskblade it's always useful...

Consider Obtain Familiar -- one that gives a bonus to hide. Then at higher levels take Improved Familiar for a more combat oriented one -- by then you should have hide bonuses from other sources.

Distractions can help, dazzling, fascinating or causing fear creates penalties to spot. Spreadig disease can help likewise, but should be conspicuous in whole new ways (stench, rashes).

black body suit out of arms and equipment hide gives a +5 circumstance bonus in low lighting but you cant wear armor (unless its a chain shirt under the suit).  skill focus of course.  masterwork tools if you can get alterself onto your spell list some how, that can gie a racial bonus of upto +10.

thats all i got off the top of my head

Get a way to cast Alter Self. If you're a humanoid, there is a form that grants a +15 racial bonus to Hide (Fiend Folio, I forget the name). Check the guide in the Handbooks section.

Yes, I'm the 3.0 "Masters of the Wild" shifter, the awesome kind. My favorite form to take is Force Dragon. Yes, I am immortal ... My character is hands down the coolest guy in the campaign and there is nothing I could possibly want.
