Cyrus ignores the telepathic communication, thinking that it's his psicrystal messing with him.  Despite a mediocre intelligence, it didn't like sarcastic, stinging rebukes like that.

"I've never had to heal myself... I usually see things before they happen, and avoid danger before it gets to me.  I've got a few tricks to help me slip out of tough situations, too.  I only finally got caught and thrown out because they spent a lot of time and resources cornering me in the sewers.  They were so happy that they finally caught the 'rat' and threw him out."

To Thorston
"There's food in the ruins, I smelled it."

Bluff: 22

Sense Motive 1d20+6=22

Yes, he actually has a few ranks in it and a positive Wisdom modifier. ;)

Edit: Whoops... I just looked up the rules for ties. I thought it went to the defender, but it actually goes to the one with the highest modifier, which would be Tetch... I'll edit...
Thorston looks dubiously at the dog and says

"I'm not sure we have the same opinions on what we consider food."

Then he looks up and says "My dog, Cujo, has gained an advanced intellect and the ability to communicate telepathically as an unforseen side-effect of my experimentation on him. I believe he may have developed a few more abilities, but I'm not sure... "

"He says he smelled food in a ruins we were in some time ago. It would at least provide shelter, as well. Unless someone has a better idea..."

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.

There, food and shelter.  Now stop moping around and get moving!

Prompted by his psicrystal's prodding, Cyrus eventually manages to pull himself up out of the snow and sizes up the group.  "Alright, then.  People have been calling me 'the Rat' for a long time now, but my name is Cyrus.  I guess I'll follow you to wherever it is you have food and stuff."

Orson's nose twitches. The guy is nuts... This has got to be some kind of trap he thinks, but decides to wait for Jon's opinion.

Seeing Susan shiver, he inches closer to her. He raises his hands to show Leviathan he means no harm, then takes off his cloak and puts it around her shoulders.
"You'll catch a cold dressed like that." he says quietly.

I guess that means it was the dog that just offered to heal me then? He kneels down beside Cujo If you can do that, I'd be grateful, It's bad enough I had to go down so quickly as first impression on you guys, I'd rather do what I can to prove that was bad luck.

Once Jon finishes gathering the armor off of the muskmen he looks questioningly at the group. Why are you guys still here if you didn't want any of their gear. Didn't one of you say you knew where some food was? If you do lets get to it since muskmen isn't the best meal.

Tetch removes Thorston from his network and adds Alan, then lets the healing magic from his belt flow through him and into Alan.

Whole again...lets try not to rip myself to shreds next time. Thanks for the help, er...'Cujo?,' I think? Alan scratches the dog affectionately behind the ear before getting up and resheathing his sword. Well, if we have a lead on where some food is, we should get moving. Not gonna get anything done sitting in the snow.

You follow the dog through the frigid darkness for hours, with the wind biting at your skin, wondering just how insane this is, and whether you'll find a place to shelter, freeze to death, or starve first. Then the dog stops and sniffs the ground for a bit and lets out an ominous growl.
Survival DC 13 tells you that he's sniffing some rather large looking canine footprints. If you beat DC 18, you can tell that they're about a day old. I'm going to have to look up the rules on tracking from Masters of the Wild, because I recall they went into a lot of detail about how much you learn if you beat the DCs by varying amounts. For now, that +5 to learn how old the tracks are is my ad-hoc adjustment.
The dog sniffs around for a bit, and then (unless directed otherwise) continues on in the direction he was leading you to start with. Thorston reassures you that the dog knows where he's going, and is a lot better guide than he himself is.
You could take 10, you know. :P In fact, while out of combat, let's always assume you guys try to take 10 first, and if that fails, you roll. OK?

So Alan sees some really big FKN dog tracks. Even bigger than the ones Cujo is leaving behind him. He could try following them if he wants.
"Notice something?" Leviathan asks the dog, seemingly unaffected by the cold. Susan, wrapped in a generously offered coat, clings hard onto the serpentine creature's body, her breath mists with every exhale.
"You'll still be living in caves."
"Hell I don't mind that."
