Coup de Grace Saving Throw DC
« on: September 16, 2010, 12:32:58 PM »
Hello all,

In 3.5, what is the Fort Save DC for Coup de Grace? Is it the damage dealt + 10 for that specific Coup attempt, or is it the cumulative total of all damage from Coup attempts + 10?

Thanks!

You have to make a saving throw for each attempt separately.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Agreed - but does the saving throw for the second attempt increase in DC by an amount equal to the damage dealt in the first attempt and so on?

Thanks!

No... why would it? I see nothing in the rules, implied or explicitly stated, to indicate that...

Also, although it's not a big deal, this kind of question would probably be more appropriate in the Simple Question and Answer thread on the min/max forum in the future.

And welcome to the boards!

Any previous CdG attempts don't relate to the current one being resolved. It only factors in the damage from that strike that is being resolved. If you had to factor in all previous CdG attempts then it would eventually become impossible for anyone to survive as the attempt from 3 years ago would is still being counted.
Clerics and Druids are like the 4 and 2 in 42. Together they are the answer to the ultimate question in D&D.
Retire the character before the DM smacks you with the Table as the book will feel totally inadequate now.-Hazren
