Brisco County Jr
« on: June 30, 2008, 09:50:27 AM »
Anyone else a fan of Brisco county jr?

I caught an episode at a friends a few years back & spent a few years trying to track the series down. I finally succeeded about a month ago & haven't been disappointed :)

For those of you that haven't seen it, it's a show from the nineties with Bruce Campbell as a gunslinging cowboy bounty hunter (think a western crossed with the feel of 'big trouble in little china' - or Deadlands if you've played it).

I've never heard of it. But now that you've told me about it, I now feel required to see it. How can I not? It's Bruce Campbell. Is there a DVD set I can buy or something?

There is indeed: http://www.amazon.com/Adventures-Brisco-County-Jr-Complete/dp/B000F7CMPE

Hard to get hold of usually though (first time I've seen it in stock on Amazon)

I loved this show.  So cheesy and so much fun.

Wow... now I have to see this.
[spoiler]
A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

It was in the dreaded "friday night death slot", plus it was on Fox.  It was doomed...  :(

I recently borrowed the DVDs and watched them all the way through, much different than what I remember (since I hadn't caught all the episodes when it first aired).  It was really good for what it was though.  I do like it, my issues with it mainly stem from the genre.

I remember seeing the first few episodes on TV.
Wasn't it canceled due to being "too violent"?  The first episode features a boxing match and the damn censors counted EACH PUNCH as an act of violence.

I loved Brisco. Matter of fact, when my group was leading up into the start of my Deadlands game, it was required watching (along with a few Western movies - good ones, basically stuff that John Wayne wasn't in.) It was a favorite show of mine back when I was a kid, and it still remains a truly awesome show.

When I was a kid I hated westerns, and it was all because of that putz John Wayne.  Then I saw Fistful of Dollars...

My father had a love affair with John Wayne. And my mother watched stuff like Gunsmoke.

Honestly, with how much my parents loved Westerns, it's amazing I don't either loathe them entirely or love them to death.
