Just realized I never announced it...but I've been lurking at the CO boards for years, and I've made the move here too.  Maybe I'll break triple-digit posts this time around.  :D

Hey, just thought I'd announce it here: I successfully defended my PhD and will graduate in December w/ a degree in Organic Chemistry from Texas A&M.  Still can't be active in the community for a while...  I have interviews this week as well as moving, and am taking a 5 week vacation starting in September.

Congrats.  Why A&M though?  Such a boring campus...

Maybe this is just me, but is anyone else irritated by the usage of "GOD" to describe wizards? This isn't even from a religious standpoint either. It just feels like unnecessary pandering and parroting.

It seems a bit of a stretch, given that Arti, Erudite, Druid, and so on have options that are at least of comparable power and versatility. The only thing that really should claim god-hood in DnD is Pun-Pun.

Mucho Kudos ...  :clap

A bit. I don't mind it as a referral to TM20's work, since his writing is incredibly informative and helpful, but I feel too many people take it to heart and think that instantly makes wizards #1, without a fight.  If the name sticks, it's mch more a 'god' than a 'GOD' since the 'god' category can include artificers, archivists, etc.

That's not the only infinite running around.

No, it's not. But it is a step (or three) above any others in terms of name recognition and the ease of entry, to the point that it has spread at least partially outside of the DnD community.

The idea is that the god wizard can do anything. Course, so can the Cleric, Druid, Artificer, and Archivist. So eh.

Sunic may be more abrasive than sandpaper coated in chainsaws (not that its a bad thing, he really does know what he's talking about), but just posting in this thread without warning and telling him he's an asshole which, if you knew his past experiences on WotC and Paizo is flat-out uncalled for. Never mind the insults (which are clearly 4Chan-level childish). You say people like Sunic are the bane of the internet? Try looking at your own post and telling me you are better than him.

Here's a fun fact: You aren't. By a few leagues.
