Phaedrus, does my dog get the same HD based bonuses that we do?  I just thought of that.
Nope. He's badassed enough without that. :P I probably won't give them to most NPCs, either. I'm still kind of debating if I'm going to use those for everyone and just get rid of items that provide numerical bonuses from the game world, or just say you guys (and other psionic NPCs) have them, and (at least in theory) leave the items in the game.
I would say go with option 2 and just don't let the items stack with our bonuses even if they are different types. It also makes the world more believable in that those with considerable power would shut out the only people who didn't need them and could be a threat.
Yeah, was kind of leaning towards that, for exactly the reason you listed. The first option is easier for me to DM, though. :P

They follow normal rules and we have a bunch of junk we can't use but is expensive. Worst case we have to fence it for deep discounts to get the stuff we would actually use.

Yeah, I'm thinking that will be part of it, for sure. Maybe they (the city-states) have also lost the ability to craft permanent magic items that function indefinitely away from their cities, also. So "archeology" is a very serious endeavor, and also involves excursions into the "exile territory".

Remember that I have telepathy and in one level I will be able to give everyone in my Worldthought Network telepathy, which will include me, my companion, and two of you that I can switch out as a free action.
Well I won't (intentionally) kill party members or eat them (unless i'm hungry or they smell of bacon)  :D
*adds cologne to inventory sheet...*

EDIT: Can someone look over both my current power list and future power list and make recommendations?  I'm not terribly experienced with Psionics, so I'd like input from fellow COers.

By the way, is it just me, or are Clairsentience powers really cool?
At a glance they look ok as long as you are planning on using them for utility. I think Catfall's usefulness will depend a lot on how the game is run or if you do a lot of climbing. Not entirely sure why you want to focus so much on the Missive line of powers. If you plan on using it for some stealthy communication then I could see that but remember it is one way so we won't be able to answer unless one of us has it too.
Yeah, between these two there isn't a lot of point to missive, now that I think about it.  Catfall may decline in usefulness now that I'm not using Up The Walls, but until I start teleporting via Dimesnion Door I will be relying on my ability to climb.  That said, now I have some room to go looking for other interesting powers.

OK, I'm going to assume that everyone is ready to go, and go ahead and kick off the game. If you overlooked/forgot something, and need to make minor retcons to your character after we get started, that will be OK. Just let me know.

Edit: I see that Endgamecutter's character is still missing quite a few things, like a name... equipment... and some feats... :P You can add that stuff in later. I want to go ahead and get this thing rolling.

lol, more like they let him take the dog with him. This dog is more like Cujo than Lassie. :D (It's the animal companion of the NPC I named.)

I was guessing you'd be outside and wind up helping them, for whatever reason. You could be one of the "scavengers". Not necessarily that you're there to kill recently released exiles, but they often do get killed, and there is no sense letting all of their valuables go to waste. Also, there is no surer place to find meat, as there are always some kinds of predators waiting there to eat them as soon as they are out. (I'm not saying you're going to eat the exiles. I meant you could hunt the hunters, so to speak. Although if you guys feel like eating your fallen, I certainly won't discourage it. ;) )

You also know that often times such exiles are fellow psychics, which might motivate you to help them survive.

Just needed to know my perspective. I'll likely be coming to scavenge off the bodies or be raiding the camp of those waiting for dinner at the door. Depending on what they are.

I can go as well, everything is mostly done in my head, I just need to expand on the backstory more, and decide on my last pieces of gear (namely enchantments, if I'm reading the magic item chart properly that means I can have a 801-1300 item and a 401-800 item, how bad is my misinterperetation?)
there is roughly a 99% chance that this post is an obscure reference to SOMETHING.

That's correct. Notice that you can also basically have as many items as you want that are worth 800 or less, within reason.

At least... that's how I've ran it in my other game, but I'm considering changing it for this one, since it's supposed to be "low magic"... I don't know... just don't put down that you have 100 dorjes or something, please...  :P Let's try to limit to something reasonable, like maybe 2x your level in items total. We won't count very minor things like weapon and armor crystals. And even this isn't exactly a rule. You can still have more items. Just try and limit yourself to something around this starting out.

Okay, I need to rework my items then.
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
[spoiler]Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.

I think I'm ok on gear. I don't have much of anything but figured i wouldn't considering my background. Most any gear we have right now will not be very useful in a few levels so i'm not too worried, we will find what we need or find ways to make what we need.

One of my items manifests bolt 3/day, but I'm carrying arrows anyway and I don't gain any further benefit from their enhancement bonus. It's mainly to prevent me from running out of ammo.

It's 1,080gp by the item crafting rules. Can this be reduced?

Also, does a lesser weapon crystal which costs 1,000gp count as a "very minor thing"?

For the item of bolt.... yeah, we'll just say it counts as a "lesser" item (800 gp or less), and won't track it.

For the weapon crystal. Hmm... For the least one, yes. I think I'm going to have to stick with the price on the Lesser one, though. The least one is quite good, anyway, and it wouldn't even count as one of your "trackable" items. You can upgrade it when you level up later (for no cost), when it drops below the "cut-off" for trackable items.

Wait, I can basically have as many items that I want at 800 gp or less?

You'll get the benefits of whatever your host has for protection, in general, since you'll be sharing their body warmth and somewhat protected by their gear. The dog itself has fur, which is one level. We can say it has some further protection in the form of weather-appropriate padded or leather barding, if you want.

And yeah... basically as many as you want for 800 gp or less. I do ask that you keep it within reason, though. About 6 or 7 items total, in general. We're trying to have a "low magic" feel... but still basically use this system. I should have probably tweaked it a bit, but I didn't really have the time or inspiration to come up with a new one, and you guys had already started using this one, so...

Sharing my hosts level of protection works.  I can deal with the non-lethal damage.

And this little slug isn't going to try and figure out how to wear armor.   :p

...But you don't need armor. If you share your host's protection, you automatically mooch off of the crystal on his armor.
