So, this feels to me like 4e + Essentials is done, from a development standpoint.
Execution of the biz plan, is what's going on now.
But given the usual r+d time to make a new game ... can you say 5E ?!

That's the thing, Essentials is out of development.
That's prolly why Noonan and Tweet are ~out, with it.
No more game design to do (at least what they've been coming up with).

Whether Essentials is 4.5e in disguise or not, doesn't really matter.
Someone else is developing the next next edition (or "edition").
