[3.5] level 6. Equipping a Blink Dog familiar.

Okay getting ready to start a new character in a gestalt game, The class is Duskblade 6/Factotum 6. These are the allowed books:PH, PHII, Complete Arcane, Complete Mage, Complete Divine, Complete Adventurer, Complete Warrior, Spell Compendium and Magic Item Compendium.
Right now the DM says Pearl of power doesn't give the ability to speak, just knowledge of the language. but, I might be able to use:
]Speak with Master (Ex)

If the master is 5th level or higher, a familiar and the master can communicate verbally as if they were using a common language. Other creatures do not understand the communication without magical help.


To point out the familiar already has the ability to speak, just one a special language without the pearl. And use:"Blink dogs have their own language, a mixture of barks, yaps, whines, and growls that can transmit complex information. " to point out Blink dogs are technically already capable to speech, just a highly limited form of it.
That is to get command action items as valid uses, ie. the Healing Belt[MIC]

So until that is done, we are limited to mental command activation items. The DM has also said I can't change the feats, since in he says that only the powers or spells could do that(Dark Chaos shuffle, Physic reformation, both aren't a part of the allow material, and  no psionics).
Tome of Battle and Magic of the Incarnum material might be allowed.

So any advice?
Edit:Changed it to simply equipping the familiar, the DMPC will be handling healing.

i would argue chewbacca.

han knows what chew is saying... chew knows what han is saying...

hell, morse code is pretty easily translated to speach you just need two distinctish sounds and bingo your talking... reallly slowwwwwly.

Yeah, but that's easier to accept because the Wookies are humanoid. And Shyriiwook actually sounds like a language. :P

Okay, since healing is getting taken care of from other sources.
Any advice on normal equipment?

why can't a blink dog with an int of 12+ speak common? lots of creatures get their own language, I see no difference in a blink dog or an aboleth speaking common.  Krakens speak common

I don't know, does anyone know if a int 12+ Blink Dog could speak another language? It is a magic beast, so psychical ability to speak is a moot point due to the nature of magic beasts. Nothing in their monster entry says they can't speak either.

I wonder if I could say Scooby Doo was a blink dog, and he could speak.
I still need equipment help, the 339 forum familiar handbook didn't cover the equipment for the familiars that much.

You need to find some way to give it Sneak Attack.

Otherwise, look up equipment for an animal companion and you should be good.

Okay the DM has allowed me to use the pearl for activating magic items, and allowed me to change the feats, but the Blink Dog dimension door won't teleport the equipment with him, so that is for emergencies only. I went with weapon finesse and light armor proficiency for the two feats. They aren't the best feats but they will do, since the Blink Dog has a 17 Dex, versus a 10 strength, and being at level 6 a 26 AC still matters.

Give your blink dog a -2 sword, cursed, with some nice properties (made of adamantine, spellblade, dragonfang(howling dragon), hidden compartments, weapon of legacy if you can swing it).  No way to lose that
