for something novel:

Fire Elf: DEX>INT>STR>CON>WIS>CHA
Knight 20////Archivist 1/Swordsage 1/Swashbuckler 3 (or Swashbucker 1/fighter 2 if MC penalties in effect)/Crusader 1/Mo9 2 (ignore Feats)/Eternal Blade 10 (ignore BAB)/Mo9 2

Feats: Exotic Weapon [Spiked Chain], Standstill, Shadow Blade, Combat Reflexes, Combat Expertise, Imp. Trip, Imp. Buckler Defense, Robilar's Gambit, 1-3 more depending on fighter levels
[Free: Weapon Focus, Weapon Finesse, Mounted Combat, Quick Draw, Great Fortitude, Iron Will]

Knight: best taunt in the game, a bunch of interesting little abilities that help lock down the field, d12 HP, and Loyal Beyond Death
Archivist: Choose to keep your spellcasting progression
Swordsage: A couple utility maneuvers, and WEapon Focus (very worthwhile in your campaign)
Swashbuckler: Weapon Finesse to avoid using STR, INT to damage
Crusader: Good maneuver recovery method
Mo9: Dual Stance (Thicket + any Shadow Hand), great high level maneuvers
Eternal Blade: More INT to stuff, and the 8th level ability is incredible with a trip build

Could also shift things around to fit S.Sage 2 and Cloistered Cleric instead of Archivist, adding Knowledge/Travel/Protection devotions, Turning, and WIS to AC, but this makes it more MAD.
Knight 20////Cloistered Cleric 1/Swordsage 2/Swashbuckler 1/Fighter 1/Crusader 1/Mo9 2 (ignore Feats)/Eternal Blade 10 (ignore BAB)/Mo9 2

Summary: A more traditional fighter build rather than a full caster-tank; good battlefield control, high HP, utilizes DEX/INT/STR for increased damage, heavy armor, cleric buffs and healing when needed
