[D&D 3.5] Edited For Content - Pregame
« on: June 25, 2008, 02:36:44 PM »
Edited For Content is heavily influenced by Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy and Discworld. If you do not appriciate the glory of the books, turn back now. I cannot guaranty that I can do these books any justice though.

World Info: Leth is a world of infinite randomness. The plane of Leth is organized by 3 layer, focused on a center. The center of Leth is the city Sum'Aris. Sum'Aris is truly neutral and is where all things good and evil meet. The layer of Sum'Aris' place is Neutral Life, a plane where only those without a definite good or evil alignment originate. Below Neutral Life is Underworld, a dark land of evil. The land of Underworld is a twisted mockery of normality is the originating point of all evil beings. Above Neutral Life is Paradise, a beautified version of the world where all good beings originate. Leth is infinite and no one can even imagine what other places can even vaguely look like.

Backround of Story: The gods have a funny way of saving the world or having fun, no one knows for sure. They will chose certain people, converge them in a tavern, and have something bring them together. You are the lucky people chosen. The tavern is Groth's, an average tavern in the shopping district of Sum'Aris.

House Rules:
1. All arcane casters can use prestidigitation at will
2. No AoO for Grappling, Disarming, Sundering, or Tripping
3. no XP, I will decide when the party levels up
4. No level loss for being revived
5. Disable Device used for Open Lock checks

Characters can come from anywhere (feel free to make up whatever you like about their home land), except good, evil, and neutral must come from the layers corresponding to their alignment.

Character Creation:
1 Level
42 Point Buy
Savage Progression allowed
No level adjestment
Core Only (Monster Manuel for savage progressions)
Starting GP: 300

You may submit a confirmation of your playing, a backround and concept, or a full character. We do not have a starting date or a cutoff date yet.

This game isn't supposed to be balanced, is it?

I am certainly not going to play in this campaign.. be a summoning druid and spam creatures everywhere, and I mean eaverywhere! yay for unlimited spells. oh and when you got a feat to spare, take item creation feats, who needs to buy items any more?

but seriously, this game is rediculously unbalanced, fix it or no-one will play it

I want to, I really want to, I mean you said Discworld! But infite spells? You scare me sir.

Will you be using Hitchiker or Discworld physics? Belief as a source of power would be sexy.

The spell casting thing was on the border with us, but we are getting rid of it as a house rule. this is our first PbP 3.5 game, so we have trouble with balance. If any one has an issue with houserules and gives a reason, I willget rid of them.

discworld physics will be used mostly, but we will include some Hitchkier's guide.

Oooh sexy. Wasn't planning on joining another PbP but for Discworld I make an exception. Maybe even 2, or 3, or 4, or  .....  :P

I tend to also use DM discretion for leveling up. It makes your life easier when your players dont say "According to my chart and totals, after we face another CR 6 encounter we will level up! Lets go find a village of orcs!"
My choice place for buying Magic: the Gathering Singles: adventuresOn.com

Currently DMing a Solo PbP, Check it out here

Like the leaves of the forest when Summer is green,
That host with their banners at sunset were seen:
Like the leaves of the forest when Autumn hath blown,
That host on the morrow lay withered and strown.

I can see your point, but how do you handle things like crafting and spells with EXP components?  Seems like that could apply here, too, if you have a good solution.

Are we going to play in spirit of the setting, or just D&D in a crazy setting?

It is D&D in a heavily discworld and hitchhiker's guie influenced setting.

Item making and spells with exp components will be handled when I encounter them.
