Implosion and Feral Death Blow aren't [Death] effects, so they work fine.

And that causes them to cease being "attacks or effects which instantly kill the subject outright"?

Because if we want to split that hair, then Finger of Death works on a bone knight because the armor doesn't say it protects him from "[Death] effects", just "death effects".

Also this:

Quote from: Rules Compendium, pg74.  Regeneration

Heck, Imprisonment would still work. It can become one of the sealed evils in the world that's set free in a future campaign. :D

Well, by that logic, trolls with regeneration are immune to uberchargers, since those can easily cause instant death.

Also, Hostile Empathic Transfer specifically bypasses regeneration.
It always seems like the barrels around here have something in them.

But that still leaves the problem of challenging him in a realistic fashion versus stomping his face in the dirt.
Seriously!? :rollseyes

Do you know how lame it is to state "You can't beat my optimized build in an optimal way, I want you to do it in a 'realistic' way?" Just admit that your build is not as good as you thought it was and move on.

Also, honorable mention to Chuck, who can literally throw this guy out of the campaign setting.

Well, he does have a point regarding a random CL 174 MDJ.

Sun Tzu's Art of War: Attack your enemies weaknesses and don't play to his strengths. That's about as realistic as combat gets.

Not really. If someone is going to try to make an invincibility build, they should expect people to pull out their big guns to try to smite them like a bug and not whine or try to change the rules when those people succeed.

My favorite counter to invincibility builds is still the explosive goodness of the positive energy plane.

Really, my favorite way of dealing with invincibility builds is to just BFC them into uselessness, which isn't that difficult when the majority of them are BSF's. As long as the're stuck in a forcecage or otherwise rendered irrelevant so they can't do squat, you don't have to bring out anything improbable to actually kill them.

Knowledge Affiliation: What bone armor?

Alternatively, really good sleight of hand to steal it.

Does Bone Armor remove the need to breathe?  If not, plane Shift to Elemental Plane of Water works just fine.

But yeah, Positive Energy Plane is just an awesome way to kill off a supposed "invincible" build.
I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.

Then you go the Surge of Fortune + Vorpal route. Though you'll need to cast SoF a few times.

Lumi can't be decapitated.  They have no necks.

Oh. For some reason I was thinking that was Illumian :P

Guess You'll just have to stick to death effects/BFC from now on.

There was a Psion Power called Thrall... I cant seem to find it in the updated 3.5 but if its there this guy seems like a perfect target. Why kill him when you can recruite him.

Better is Necrotic Cyst+Necrotic Tumor.  Niether spell has the [Mind-affecting] tag, and are subsequently much harder to defend against.  They're also Necromancy, so only Constructs are immune.
