Bartholomeow squints at the creature, trying to see if he can recall seeing it in one of his textbooks--more pointedly whether or not it is undead.

If it is undead.
He will cast Command Undead and order it to 'Halt'. He will then tell everyone not to attack it because it is under his control.
If it is not undead.
He will reveal what information he gets from the Knowledge check to the rest of the party and hold until he feels he can be more useful.

You need to actually make the roll, but if I were you I'd just not take chances. If you have Knowledge: Arcana, Dungeoneering, Religion, and/or The Planes, I'd roll as many as you've got to identify the things. Chances are one of those will cover the creature type.
-pseudo-edit-

Alcy tries to determine the creature's species, though doesn't have complete, extensive knowledge open to her.
Knowledge: Arcana 1d20(2)+8=10
Knowledge: Religion 1d20(15)+6=21

Knowledge: The Planes 1d20(13)+8=21

It's a Wyste.  There will likely be more of them and their bite is incredibly deadly, and you think everyone needs to back out of range especially poor Kintal)

"Guys! It's a Wyste! Don't get too close, It'll rip you in half!"

"What Teo says is true, mostly. They won't rip you in half, but if they bite you, they won't let go. There's a lot of them, too. Possibly too much for us to handle like this, unless someone here can explode them from within the tunnel. I suggest closing off this entrance and entering from another area, though who knows what good that might do."

Bartholomeow holds his action, not wanting to expend any of his precious arcane power until a course of action is decided, but he doesn't really have anything to add to the conversation.

I don't really know. I don't want to throw my only annulat and melee combat won't be a good idea... Suggestions?

Besides getting a magic Annulat with Return? no. (( I've actually played a Neraph before, and I had like 5 Returning Annulats :D ))

Alcy has no choice but to protect her comrades. She rushes in and swings her Greatsword at the creature.

Attack:
1d20(19)+8=27 *Crit chance!*

1d20(9)+8=17 (Dammit! No crit damage  :bigeye)

Damage:
2d6(1,1)+4=6 (Double Dammit!)

No crit AND minimum damage? This is like some cruel joke.  :twitch
