[spoiler]Going to take 10 on Knowledge: Arcana to try and guess WTF is going on here...
That would give me a 21, or 26 for IDing a creature.

Also take 10 on Spellcraft (giving me a 23) because OOC I think that probably was an Exploding Runes... and since he saw them go off he might be able to identify them.

Edit:... 23 isn't high enough is it? I rolled and got a 17... which of course isn't going to hack it, either... [/spoiler]

[spoiler]Nothing on IDing the "crows"? I have at least a +5 check for all the Knowledges associated with creature types, with another +5 from Collector of Stories. So I should be able to ID most low hit die creatures easily...

Quietly to the side, after hearing the panic, Zane placed the rifle back into the sheathe on his back. Viewing from the scope on it hadn't helped him much. The crows were interesting, but worrisome. This place was far too unknown to the lot of them. "So, Matsuko, judging by your reaction, this isn't a known defense of the area? Hrm, next time, someone might try sending something expendable over to see if it or they are hostile.... hmmmm....." Zane, without much subtlety, starts eying the chef, specifically the feathers stuck to him.

"Or, I suppose we could all go investigate the house..." Zane, again without much subtlety, turns and heads slowly for the house, after Eren. He'd prefer a not out in the open, raised place to be.

[spoiler]That'd be because there is one tiny little detail you don't know yet... You're fairly sure there is no race of exploding crows that you know of, which would seem to indicate something ELSE is at work. But you're not entirely sure.[/spoiler]

I was trying to just get close enough to... feel their souls. I knew something wasn't natural about the way they kept avoiding me. Ordinary birds wouldn't have known it... I... was there.

So I thought I'd hop into one, and fly it back down here for everyone to examine. When I did get close, I could detect a soul which wasn't unlike one you'd expect for a bird, but couldn't tell you much more about them.

They certainly seem dangerous, though. So I'm not sure if we should disturb them again... That stalker was a fairly powerful specimen of his kind... and they blew him to bits easily enough...

So yeah... maybe checking that house, or whatever it is, is a good idea. At least at first. We can come back to these if we can't find any other clues as to what the hell is going on here."
