Chapter 2: Friendly Fractal Fruit Farmers

Teleportation doesn't leave your lot inside the farm. Rather, it leaves you outside what looks like a walled property, over which you can see a few treetops, but which looks unimpressively small for something that's supposed to supply food for an entire kingdom. The big plaque reads "Douglas Farm" above the entrance gate.

"Everyone in one piece? Check your equipment so we make sure we haven't forgotten anything."

Kyx says through the comm "Oh my god, my body didn't teleport with us!" Then cackles with laughter at his own joke.

[spoiler]Outside the dome, everything looks normal. You realize there's a fairly good chance the outside is an illusion to keep would-be sucker trespassers away. Still, there seems to be no wildlife flying OVER the farm.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Not that you can see, but you presume it's there nonetheless. The whole thing is on its separate, bigger on the inside demiplane, so it stands to reason that there's a dome.[/spoiler]

"Now to see if ze place is full of ze danger." Paul says before he clucks a prayer.

[spoiler]Paul casts Omen of Peril (77% chance of success). Since the vision depends on his religion, he will get one of three visions: A healthy chicken (Safety) , a scared chicken (Peril), or a dead chicken (Great Danger).[/spoiler]

"I sense no dangers in ze next hour. Let us proceed, no?"

"So what's in the box?" Fistbeard asks, cracking his knuckles.

"Let me takes a look." Paul says. He opens the box up a bit and pulls out a frantic chicken. "Sophy? What were you doing in zere? Silly chicken. Back in ze bag you go!"

Paul pushes the chicken into a small bag about the size of an apple. After a moment, the bag stops moving.

Did the box just... sneeze? A feather drops from the nose of the dragon sculpted on its top.

Paul looks at his hands. Weird. Sophy had been covered in something sticky. Adhesive-y, even.
He looks at the box again.
"It is a nice box. Maybe I judge too soon. I think some of ze chickens would like it."

"If you want it, you can have it.  I wouldn't want to be known as a person who owns something so inelegant as a sneezing box"

Sabot tosses the box over to Paul.

Paul* catches the box. He looks inside to examine it's contents.

The top of the box is connected to the bottom by a hinge. The box itself... is empty.

Paul puts a couple chickens in the box for safe keeping, and closes the lid.

A coughing sound comes from the box. It gets louder as the box starts to shake.

Paul quickly lets go of the box and steps back.

The sculpted dragon on top of the box starts to shift. The box raises itself up on spidery legs which sprout from its underside. A voice comes from the dragon's mouth.
"Whuh? Who are you? Where am I?"

"Well this is new. I think this is the first time the folks down at inventory have tossed in a mimic to go with everything. Gotta say, though, you look like a horrible fashion accessory." Matsuko offers with a slight hint of surprise.
