Yeah. I have to see if I overdid it or not, but it makes it a lot easier to deal with this sort of encounter. I put that one together the first time to see how much of a pain it would be.

I don't think it will be. We're going another hour further north to boot, and I think it's supposed to be in the upper 60's to lower 70's. I think our daughter is finally old enough to take on a canoe.

If it looks like all the monsters are running from a fight and you want to simply call it, I'm fine with that. I don't know if I've ever explicitly stated that. I know I've asked when it comes up in various fights.

(Right now in the current fight, worg 2 still remains, of course, but I wanted to throw this out there.)

Sorry. I wasn't clear earlier. When I changed Hail of Stone from 1d4 per CL to 1d6 per CL, I still wanted it capped at 5d6. No, it's cool. I looked at what I wrote earlier, and I said "damage is 1d6 per CL" instead of "change d4s to d6s for damage", which is what I meant.

I'm finally back among those with access to technology again. As much as I love the little woman's grandparents being so far out there the GPS asking "where the hell are you?" (only a slight exaggeration) is a bit much for me.

So, I'm not planning to do this in the current fight, but how would you guys handle someone trying to get off of Grease/Ice Patch by being smart rather than rolling Balance checks? It seems reasonable to let a prone creature reach off to the edge of the spell to a clear area and attempt to pull themselves off. If there's something easily graspable, it seems the check should pretty much be automatic as a move action.

Also, stuff like ropes or certain types of weapons could be very handy, too.

No. There's just no rules for it.

So, basically, unless the environment prohibits it, the worst grease does is make you prone until the start of your action, then make you blow a move-action to get five feet off of the AoE, which probably provokes an AoO, right?

I'm fairly certain that the act of crawling, moving while prone, does provoke AoO for every 5' they move.

Yes, Crawling moves you only 5ft and provokes an AoO, but you can stand up once you're outside the tripzone(and provoke yet another).

I guess either way, you're trading an action to likely cause them to lose over an entire round of actions as well as having them take two AoOs for the trouble.

So, should I continue having the troll act dumb, or have him be smart and try and crawl out? I guess, what seems fair? Maybe I'll have him wise up next round, or something, so I don't have to re-do his actions mid fight.
