*snicker* - Class Acts article got a small update in the full dragon pdf (apparently not changed in the Class Acts pdf yet).  Now they have the psychic keyword.  Yay, someone up there was paying attention!  (And seriously, wthell is CS smoking?  Couldn't they have told us this to begin with).  At least I'm glad I'm not crazy =)
Thank god... the more I looked around the PHB, the less sense their rulings on that subject made. There were so many indicators that at least the intention was for the damage keyword to translate to damage and vice versa. The RAW seemed quite clear on the matter, in any case... I have no faith in CS now....

I guess it was my coming in late to 3.5 that makes this a surprise to me, everyone else seems to be saying, "yeah that's CustServ for ya."

Psychic is awesome because nothing (or almost nothing) resists it, correct? Still don't all the books yet, MM has to wait awhile.

One monster resists it.  That's all.

Well, Items are immune to Psychic, Poison, and Necrotic, but defeating a tulip or a waterskin has never been much trouble.

They also made Illusionary wall a daily power... I think they changed a couple other minor things, but I think it's pretty fair at this point.

Huh. I'd assumed Undead resist psychic damage for some reason. Which monster is it?

I finally got around to playing a wizard updated with this article* & I've found Grasping Shadows & Thunderwave work really well together.

  • Opening with Grasping Shadows to slow the opponent and leave the area effect till your next turn
  • The enemies can either stay where they are (due to the bizarre wording of the spell it won't take the area effect since they don't enter it) or move out (2 squares if slowed).
  • You can then shunt it/them back in with Thunderwave forcing it to be slowed again.

I believe that two monsters resist psychic damage...

Tarrasque and the Godforged Collosus, but the tarrasque has resist all.

I'm glad they modified that article, it makes more sense now.

**Considering you could delay your action to prevent your next turn occurring - a pair of wizards could fairly effectively (barring thunderwave misses) lock down a corridor indefinitely with this tactic for the cost of a single encounter power.

You can't. If you delay your action so far you never take your action, then you forfeit that action -- otherwise the next round of combat would never come up!

Hmmm. They did change that from 3.5 then. Good to know :D

Then again, in 3.5 there was no point in delaying your action that way, because there were no "until the end of your next turn" effects.

Re-read the Delay rules : those effects still end at the same initiative count.
