Hijax, I know you said we can only worship Greek gods, but my little jackal-headed guy would be more appropriately associated with ancient Egyptian religion, I think. Since those two societies existed at the same time and actually traded with each other, would that be ok? He's not going to be a cleric or anything. I was just thinking it would be cool if I could say that he's a servant of one of the Egyptian gods, who are pissed off at the Greek gods for starting this war on humanity. And he's here to help the Greeks out against their own gods, and maybe win a few converts for his master. :D

If mans goes with the character I am trying to steer him towards, it would be thematically appropriate for him to be from Egypt, also, and maybe he and I could start out knowing each other.
Didn't the Greeks take the stance that foreign gods were their own gods by different names? Or was that just the Romans?

Anyway, you don't even see mentions of the names of foreign gods, just stuff like "the Celts love Lugh Mercury".

I know the Romans took the Greek gods, changed the names, and said they were the roman gods.

It's not like the Romans didn't have gods before they conquered the Greeks. It's just that the Greeks had a great deal of literature related to their deities, so if the Romans decided that Zeus was the same being as Jupiter, most of Jupiter's identity was now defined by the tales of Zeus he absorbed.

They still took the Greek gods. It's just they were more the Greek gods + some roman stuff, than roman gods + some Greek stuff. Anyways,  :backtotopic

Well... assuming Mans goes with the character we discussed, I actually had this idea for a backstory for both of us:

He would be a pharaoh who was entombed so that he'd eventually become a deity (mummification in this case I'm imagining is kind of like a caterpillar going into a cocoon and emerging as a butterfly). However, due to all the craziness going on, he's been awakened early and is pissed off that his "sleep" has been interrupted (someone destroyed his tomb). He'll effectively be an immortal (Tome Revenant), but not a god yet. So I'll basically worship him, but be a divine servant sent back by the rest of the pantheon to make sure he gets to go back to sleep and continue his ascension. (My character is an outsider with a jackal-head, and even the fluff for his race says they were specifically created as servants of a more powerful "master race".)

Since gold doesn't actually mean anything, it won't matter that he was buried with all kinds of bling and is technically filthy rich, as he won't be able to buy anything with it anyway. Likewise, probably no one (in Greece) will give a crap that he's the walking corpse of a long-dead ruler of a distant country (except maybe for the walking corpse bit...).

The ancient Egyptians were more of a pantheon with everyone worshipping them all I think, but if you want me to pick a specific deity that I was sent by, I guess it would be Anubis, since he was the lord of the dead and also has a jackal head himself.

For me and Jojo, (right person? can't recall right now), I think it would be something along the lines of we were both created (by which I mean modified to a crazy extent) by a mage who was obsessed with that sort of thing. When the gods started to attack the world, some of the stray energy currents modified some of the stranger ones in ways that he didn't notice. They proceeded to break out and the ensuing melee resulted in not only the deaths of most of the creatures, but the entire facility. In the chaos, he broke free, and ran for it. Along the way, I latched onto him, and have been hanging onto him ever since. We haven't had much experience, but enough to know that we are pretty much the embodiment of monsters (I mean, people go insane looking at us  :P). So, we don't really have much experience with people other than them either running away, trying to kill us, or going insane when they see us. So, yah.

Note that some of the tougher of the mages creatures survived, and could still be out there causing havok...(blatant DM background hook).

I'm not sure I follow... My character will basically see himself as a servant of the whole Egyptian pantheon, sent to serve Mans' character, whom he will also treat as a god. The god he'd be most specifically associated with (besides Mans' character) would be Anubis.

They'll both be pissed at the greek gods for causing such a disturbance that it woke up Mans, and will be looking to recruit people to reject the greek gods and/or kick their asses. (Yeah, I know that's not very feasible at 5th level, but what do you expect from an undead pharaoh and his divine servant? :P )

Yes, it is also me.
My version has use too close to steal the energies of hell project instead of a flux created by the gods appearance, and the mage sending some of his more complete projects to try and delay the gods (yeah, failed utterly) so it would be an easier escape. But that's just minor details. The only question is "Do I know about you?"

@Phaedrus It still works out to
"I am a servant of god!"
"Which God?"
Points to guy beside him "That one."
That actually seems awesome.

It might be appropriate to change the Revenant healing from sunset to sunrise due to Ra.

Oh sure, you didn't get your powers from the divine backlash, but it effected enough creatures in ways that made it easy for them to break out and destroy the place. The "delay the gods" tactic made me laugh though :D.

Well, as best I can determine, I'm about the size of a smallish human arm. As a result, my attachment to you would be fairly obvious. How aware you are of my sentience? Debatable.
Note: Since you have two mouths, can I use one if I need to? The RP implications are simply hilarious, and I can't actually talk to anyone that I'm not bonded to, so...sometimes I just need to say something out-loud.

@Phaedrus: Yes please do that. The fun that can be had is simply wonderful to think about.

As I have already given him 2 personalities, you can't get a reserved slot. However The chaotic one would be willing to let you take sometimes using his mouth, and you could make a deal with the Lawful one.

It is easier to let you talk if I know. And it isn't like I'll be telling people, because they be insane by the time they can hear me.

Oh yeah, that's totally how it will go down. :D That's a fun idea with the sunset to sunrise thing, too. I think all the Egyptian gods were on the same side except Set, and Ra was the head of the pantheon, so it makes sense.
