Note that you can swap out any of the feats a mount comes with as long as they aren't bonus feats.

Source?, and can it apply to familiars?
Source? That's how feats work. ??? Bonus feats are the only ones which are a part of your race, the feats in an MM entry are just given as an example.
I'm just dealing with an over literal DM. Sorry about that.
If he insists, find an NPC to use Psychic Reformation on your mount for a fee. Then it's pretty much undebatable. :)
The only way he says I could change feats is the Dark Chaos Shuffle or Psychic Reformation, but neither are in the allowed material :banghead
PHB 2 retraining rules?
Ask him if every "orc warrior 1" has the same feat.
Chances are he'll say yes, because the MM said so. :rolleyes
IIRC the MM actually says monsters can have different feats.

Quote
Feats:A monster gains feats just as a character does. Sometimes a creature has one or more bonus feats, marked with a superscript B (B). Creatures often do not have the prerequisites for a bonus feat. If this is so, the creature can still use the feat. If you wish to customize the creature with new feats, you can reassign its other feats
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monstersAsRaces.htm
Already got him to change his mind, with the same quotes, but used goblins and troglodyte.
Though Blink Dog's will not be able to carry there worn objects when using the DDoor ability, but that is closer to RAW. I can deal with it.

Worn objects? You mean the Blinkdog's equipment doesn't go with it when it uses DDoor? That's just... retarded. I mean seriously... is he just out to nerf you somehow, anyway he can? If so... find a new DM. It's no fun if the DM feels like it is his job to screw you over, because he will always succeed.

That's actually probably less RAW than you getting to swap the doggie's feats.

His reasoning for the blink dog is this line on the teleport ability, "The ability affects only the blink dog," versus the other self-only teleport abilities like the Archon's
"except that the creature can transport only itself and up to 50 pounds of objects."

I don't think he is directly out to nerf me, but I don't think he understands balance that well.  He has requested I not take Sandshaper because, not because of the desert insight ability, but because the Shape sand ability and shapesand with  him being confused on how it works and the things it can become. This is for a Duskblade//Factotum gestalt character, level 6.
He has only recently it seems found discussions that talking familiars could use UMD, and thinks a talking familiar(Pearl of Speech/Raven/Imp) can be broken, and a teleporting talking familiar even more so.

The worst thing about Sandshaper is the headaches that are caused by making a 2*5 ft wall appear five minutes before you want it :p
I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

It absolutely can be.

I guess I can understand his reasoning on the blink dog, but it is such a big nerf... That basically means that it can't use any equipment... You should ask if it can take VoP as compensation.  :D

It wasn't even intended as a pun...
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Tier 1: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything and the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
In a mounted campaign I once played a spiked chain gishy wizard with the bonded summoner prc (MiHB). A tripper on top of a large/huge elemental was a good combo.

Anyone have any sufficiently epic pics which could be used in the intro and the various sections?

I like this one best.
A gygaxian dungeon is like the world's most messed up game show.

Behind door number one: INSTANT DEATH!
Behind door number 2: A magic crown!
Behind door number 3: 4d6 giant bees, and THREE HUNDRED POUNDS OF HONEY!
They don't/haven't, was the point. 3.5 is as dead as people not liking nice tits.

Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.

Though sometimes, the surgeon (DM) botches them pretty bad...
Best metaphor I have seen in a long time.  I give you much fu.
Three Errata for the Mage-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Barbarian-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Monks doomed to die,
One for the Wizard on his dark throne
In the Land of Charop where the Shadows lie.

Battle BridalMIC: 9k, Grants Mounted Combat and Ride-by Attack. Need to confirm details.
Battle Bridle indeed costs 9k, but it works slightly differently. It gives you a +5 competence bonus to Ride checks and the benefit of the Mounted Combat feat. If you already have that, you instead get the benefit of Ride-By Attack. So it's similar to Gloves of the Balanced Hand, but for mounted combat. In other words, get it, then ditch it for Riding Boots when you can afford them.

Great handbook, very helpful for both my current character and my next one!

A few things I noticed weren't included in the Mounted Melee section that might merit attention are the Valorous enchantment from Unapproachable East, which increases damage after a charge on top of spirited charge, the Charging enchant from MiC (+2d6 after a charge for +1...it's so-so), and the Shock Trooper tactical feat, with Heedless Charge being the maneuver of particular note (allowing you to sacrifice AC instead of BAB for power attack on a charge).
