The Rokugan Campaign Setting book? :P
[spoiler]
A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Keep in mind that the Rokugan Campaign Setting is third party.

First hit.

Would you remind us why it's considered third-party? The intrigue surrounding the corporal instability at the time this book was published must be resurfaced.

It was published by Alderac Entertainment, not Wizards.

For Metaphysical Spellshaper, of course!  ;) :p :P :blush

Bah, these boards need less time developing emoticons, and more time developing the hover-over alt-text thread-preview feature of the WotC forums.

I've never seen anyone use "flutter" before.

What does everyone think of the Rokugan Ninja? Overpowered? Underpowered? Balanced?

Also, Way of the Ninja (Rokugan supplement), has a feat that allows a character w/ 12 levels of ninja to gain total Concealment vs ranged attacks.

Overpowered.

Ok, probably not but seeing how it's recommended over Rogue whom already deals 700+ with it's attacks as well as having a key place in the party (trapseeker/social) to knock a solid class like that down you know something is iffy about it. At first glance it seems, well, lame. Also it's not very theurgic (sp/what word am I wanting here?). It has Ninja Dodge! and Ninja Speed! but poor reflexes and no evasion.

Seeing how I want to say "just play an unarmed swordsage" it's probably balanced, the ToB is supposed to be better than the rest of the base melee classes.

Actually, the real version has a good reflex save, not will. The preview is incorrect.

And I think it is balanced just fine. No trapfinding and worse skills is a fair trade for higher BAB, unless you think the Thug+Sneak-Attack variant fighter is overpowered, too.

Usually I just see people dip into the Rokugan Ninja for up to 4 levels, and then dump it after that. It does have some nice synergy with classes and feats that give you bonuses vs. your dodge targets, though, since it lets you have multiple ones.

As far as power level goes, it's got two cute abilities (Int to Initiative and Con mod to run speed) but other than that?  Meh.  If you wanted Int to Initiative, you probably would get more out of Factotum than Ninja anyway.  It does have some interesting proficiencies, so I often build ninjas as Rogue 1/Rokugan Ninja 1/Unarmed Swordsage 18 for that specific reason.

Or just dip into the Master of Masks for a Gladiator Mask if you want all the proficiencies.

I love it when a single versatile ability from a PrC contains options better than an entire PrC built on the premise.
I do not suffer from paranoia; I enjoy every second of it.
