Club, preferably improvised. Baseball bats, chair legs, stools, and the like. Because if you can't win with a club, you aren't trying hard enough. Or tankards, those are alright too.

I have always been a fan of western weapons, but something about the staff seems so... primal, so natural.  I can't explain my like for it with just words (alcohol doesn't help; Wednesday is karaoke night).  It just seems like the perfect extension of the human body.  "I want to hit someone, but I don't want to get close.  Why don't I grab a big stick?  It's hard and has longer reach than I do normally."

I like to turn my enemy's advantages against them, so their own limbs are often a satisfying weapon for me.
I feel lighter. Maybe I lost some weight with all that dilly-dallying.

I'd go with rapier. It's quick, sophisticated, and European. The weapon of a thinking man (aside form a Teller-Ulam bomb). Preferably weilded as a case or with a long gouche.

The weapon of a thinking man is thought.

The weapon of a thinking man is thought.
And the thought's cutting edge is Word.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

So the force behind the cutting edge would be will.  ....now, how are we supposed to use our will saves for attack actions?   :P

The battleplate "Morokweng" as to be seen in the second panel here.
For reference, the sleak looking ship on the left in the first panel is some 3 KM long. Those big green balls are Neutronium Annihalation plants which produce enough power to feed Neptune to Jupiter one bite at a time.

Rule 37: "There is no such thing as 'overkill'. There is only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload'."

If we're going into senseless oneupmanship...

And thought's the tool of a thinking man, anyway.  Unless you can only think of inflicting harm on people, at least.

Tier 4: An expert marksman.

Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.

IRL, I'd probably get my ass handed to me, but I'd really look into a rock-hammer (like rockhounds/geologists use) for melee and train at the sling (NOT D&D sling, mind you...check out slinging.org) for ranged. As a lone fighter that is. Prolly hafta use a shield. oops don' wanna start that here ;)

It's all relevant.

If i were to face a nimble or shield carrying opponent i would probably go for some big ass hammer.  Like a MAUL or something.  I'm 6'10 300 pounds and i can put quite a lot of weight behind a blow, you just can't block it if it comes from a big ass maul.

As for regular situations, i'm quite handy with a bastard sword.

Let's be honest here, I suck at aiming and Str was my dump stat. Conventional weapons wouldn't work for me. That is why my weapon of choice would be a Spartan. :sparta

Though I'm not too sure I'd use it for very much fighting.

 :D

People usually think that I've lost my mind. I haven't lost it, I know exactly where it is: the gutter.

My body is a temple. That is why I make chocolate sacrifices in it every day.

Dress like a pubescent boy, you wont be using that Spartan for much fighting at all. NOW Trojans on the other hand ...  :)

I have to say I prefer the staff as a weapon as well. It's a weapon that can function defensively and offensively, both against a single foe and multiple opponents. I'm not saying it's the perfect weapon, but for someone who appreciates the capacity to possibly incapacitate without outright killing, while keeping blows away from one's self, it is the ideal weapon.
Axes or armor wreck the party, but what weapon is flawless?
Currently playing:
Forte Lulz, Chaotic EVIL Bard bent on world domination;
Canere Potentia, to sing of power.
Aralaxax, Warforged Osteomancer, Machines are my people, I wield bones as other wield swords.
Randall Gray, she's not sexually confused, honest!

Currently DMing: Real Men Use Their Hands, World's Largest Dungeon

The pen is mightier than the sword.

I bring this up not to propose a similar point, but to bring up a quote from the Drew Carey Show:
Oswald: She sent a note... and it's a dirty note! 'The penis mightier than the sword!'
Drew: Let me see that...That's 'pen is,' you moron!

I bring this up to highlight ingenuity (even when it arises from a mistake). The capability of discovering new uses, which triumph over functional fixedness, is a deadly weapon indeed, and the spawning force of so many other weapons. And, as the metaphorical father of all weapons, it has the power of all weapons in a sense. Thus, ingenuity and innovation are my favorite weapons. And they will always be competing with themselves to improve themselves.
