I watched it yesterday. I'm on my phone so I can't do spoiler tags so ill try to be ambiguous.
I liked the episode over all. The pacing was good, they didn't linger, good character development- good stuff.

The sad part really got me. Unexpected, well executed and sad.

The reveal is growing on me. I think I like it.
It's not something they can all do, just something that the Cylons can do.

Also, space is really, really big. Even sending a bunch of robots jumping around won't be sufficient.

(PS: They did have robots to find it, they are called the Final Four.)
I was really happy with this episode. I can't wait for the next one. Holy crap.

PS: We probably should do different threads for episodes so we can discuss them rather than spoilertagging constantly.

Oh and an interesting production notes:

 • This was filmed after the writer's strike had begun, so the writers (who run the show) weren't around. They had the actors and director just do it, they couldn't be asked about motivations or for re-writes. In television, writers are central so this was really like "let's let the lower level guys take this one."
 • This is especially awesome when you consider that this may have been the last episode ever. When they filmed it, they didn't know whether they would come back soon enough. If it took too long, there was a real chance that Universal would've scrapped all the sets to save money.
 • Edward James Olmos fucked with everybody's heads to get as much emotion out of them as he could, constantly talking about how it was the last episode ever, there was no chance of their ever coming back, and how fucked up it was that it would end on this note when it wasn't time yet

Robert, the spoilerd thing to me, part 1 ???
space is big, really big, so big as too (see hitchhikers). but they have intersteller scanners, and jump tech. you put a billion bots all mapping and you could at least elliminate a huge portion of possibilities.. not to mention that it only took a year once they 'had ' to find it.
i read an interview about the episode, im guessing the same one you did..

they detailed how the picked the fifth, and about Olmos's ad libs and intensity..

Don't be too sure that Helen is the Fifth.
Since he's a Cylon too, he may have just imaged (or imagined) the whole thing.
hey what's with all the
spoiler usage.  :D [/spoiler}

4.5.2 wasnt as good as 4.5.1.. but not bad... it almost seems like they are throwing the earth story line away now that its not what they wanted..

i would personally like to see more of the regular toasters back in play.. i always thought that there were more of them than skin jobs....

and wtf is with bsg and smallville.. i have commented on this before, if not here, on other boards..

several of the bsg people have had rolls on smallville, now gaida has jumped. he is number 4 or 5, something like that..

back to bsg,  i want them to address the og skin jobs age issue. w/ them selectivley aging and not... such as tigh aging with adama, but being old on earth, and tyrol being the same on earth.. i know there is limit to what they can do with the actors they have and the budget but they need to say something about it..
So, is Starbuck half cylon? Was her dad that unreleased "Daniel" cylon? I'm so confused...

...and Boomer is such a bitch.
Helen , Ellen , meh.

But who's to say she's the "real" number Five ?
Maybe she's actually one of the other 3.

Starbuck's a clone.

Part 1 of Daybreak kicked my ass (in a good way). Looking forward to the 2-hour part 2, but even that must wait for JiffyCon.

I'm looking forward to the TV movie, The Plan. It's going to go back to before the Cylon attack on Caprica and retell the entire story from the Cylon point of view. We will see the evolving nature of the Cylon plan. (Remember, "They have a plan.")

what is there to say thats not needing spoiler tags...

o ya, i know... wtf  :banghead never explaining a damn thing about the one center point of the show.

otherwise i liked it... adama and the pres were great...

i didnt really care alot for the very end with the two walking around..

on a side note..

the bsg universe is not supposed to have any aliens...

so are the animals on all the planets the same.....
even the new earth animals?
and bacteria... they would be aliens right?

im just saying bah humbug..

i need to go read around my other sci fi forums .. check their threads...

and that disapearing act... wtf. was it a dellusion, an illusion... a memory.. grrr

Loved the admiral and the president, as usual. They really carried the show.
Liked Kara's story - not everything needs to be explained.
Actually liked Gaius for most of the episode and that's a first.

The ending is far from perfect but I found it good - long-running series are damn hard to end after all. I'd say it's meant to make you take a look at the world... no more escapism for you !

edit: where do you go to to read about BG ? I'd be curious to gauge how the ending was perceived.

About Kara:
She's an angel, like Head Gaius and Head Six. She's just an angel everyone was able to see and perceive, and whose nature was hidden from herself. This is made very clear when she flashes on Leobin saying to her, "When I see you I see an angel."
