The Confectioner
« on: December 04, 2009, 12:12:27 PM »
I'm looking to make a Spellcaster that uses food based magic. He doesn't need to be good, in fact, the nature of his being is that he is not very powerful at all.
The only thing I need him to be able to do is cast low level buffs and food spells. I need access to one fourth level Bard spell and the ability to make magical cakes and potions, and I need all of this as early as possible.

Any ideas?
I don't recall the part of Kamehameha where people launched redwoods at each other.

Amazingly enough, I remember seeing a character like this... Let me see if I can find it...

Edit: Ok... it was just a psion shaper, who used Psionic Minor Creation, and lots of Craft (Cooking) ranks to make delicious pies and pastries... that he laced with poison. His combat tactic was to hand out poisoned pies to his enemies, relying on the fact that they were so delicious (he had like a +38 craft check at level 10) that they'd be irresistible. I always thought it sounded like one of the most hilarious (but maybe not practical... or effective...) character ideas I'd ever heard. Especially since it was submitted for an arena match.  :lmao

With Linked Power (CPsi) you could manifest Psionic Minor Creation much quicker by linking it to something with a short manifesting time.

[spoiler]
A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Prestigitation can be used to make things delicious, including the stuff you get from create food and water.

Magical cakes can just be reflavoured potions - they work in the same way, after all.
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
[spoiler]Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.

That sounds hilarious!  :lol I think I'll use that but tweak it so the pies are potions rather than poisons and maybe give it some other abilities to make it fit into my idea box. Thank you very much.

My plan was to create potion fruits, Spell Cakes (effectively martial scripts/scrolls that grant a maneuver/spell for one hour upon ingesting them) and candies that can be used as experience substitution items (almost like Thought bottle only very limited)

Another method of using htis character would be to pair with a battle clown thrown weapon specialist to kill your enemies via thrown pies.
