a silly build idea
« on: December 02, 2009, 07:42:17 PM »
shigure got me thinking, about dragon prcs.

i got to reading and saw a real stinker, fleet runner of ehlonna.

like dragon disciple it increases your spells known..

trouble is, its no casting advancement.. so any use here will be purely speculative, and not for use in a real game..

might work for a specialty scm but that could cause brain damage. (would be very ugly)

anyway. my point...

anyone have 9th lvl spell in under 10 lvls,

this is purely TO, aimed at getting 10 extra lvl 9 spells.

being TO, cheese is fine, but less is more..

not a challenge, i just dont recall any specific build that do the trick, must also have divine casting to qualify, cleric 2 is the basic qualifier.

ok, so thats me thinking out loud about a crappy prc.. besides where to stow it :) any suggestions?

That class always seemed more geared towards a ranger base then a full caster due to some of the abilities.

For your idea, I'm figuring some sort of an Ur-priest build.  Probably not able to take full 10 levels of SRoE since you need to progress Ur-priest first and that will eat up some of the levels.

I guess your best options would be Ur-Priest and Beholder Mage, but even they take some 4 or 5 levels before you can enter them, meaning you can't start taking levels in Fleet Runner until about level 14-15...

Maybe with rebuilding? I've never looked into that...

Rebuilding+Ur-Priest is really easy. you can get a full UP base by about level 7 or 8, since it can meet its own requirements. After that, finish UP and head into the other 10-level PrC of your choice.

Divine crusader gets ninth level spells in nine levels.  One per day, and one domain for a list, but, hey, ninth level spells.

Is race a requisite?  Or purely veneration of Elhonna?  A kobold can get 9's way early, especially if stinking it up with UM cheese.  We'll assume LA buyoff, for maximum retching, the usual Dragonwrought White Dragonspawn Jungle Kobold Loredrake.  Now, take Arcane Disciple (Spell) and Arcane Preparation.  This should fulfill our requirements for UM, at 1st level no less assuming A)2 flaws, and B)ArcPrep only needs 4 ranks in Spellcraft or 1st level spells (though with the above it could require 2nd too and we've still got it).  Now at CL 6 we add another +1 sorc, so I'll add that in now.  We're up to Sorc 1+1 Ritual+1Dragonspawn+2 Loredrake = 5th level casting.  UM adds 1 level to that at 1st, 4th, and 7th, and 2 levels (since it's both spontaneous and vancian, a la the wizard trick reverse engineered by these scaly bastards) on the rest.  We end up Sorcerer 1/Ultimate Magus 9/Fleet Runner of Elhonna 10, with casting as a Sorcerer 20 and CL of 24, 25 with "dragon or dragonblood spells," and a total of what, 13 9th level spells known?  Plus an extra 9 spells known from Arcane Disciple, which basically opens up the entire Sor/Wiz list from 0-5th level.  Pick up Planar Touchstone for a mobile domain, reattuning it as needed to get most of the Cleric list, including Miracle, and also access to all those domain powers.  If you've got it set to Undeath, you can polymorph into a planetar and buff with nightsticks and DMM :D

the only major req is the divine caster part of fleet runner, but i think w/ Mystic that changes. afb atm, will have to double check..

Well, if Arcane Disciple isn't needed to cement vancian casting, you can always pick up Magical Training or Precocious Apprentice (Cleric) at level 1, like the Dweomerkeepers do.  That'd be nice and solid.
