No, dude, not the entire dome. Just the part that got a Wall of Stone toppled over.
This spell creates a wall of rock that merges into adjoining rock surfaces.
The entire thing is seamless, even the "new" part.
Doesn't it also need the entire surface it will cover to be free? If Cade merely kept his arm there he'd prevent the spell from working altogether.
Nope. You can shape it however you want, and even encase people in it. They get a Reflex save to avoid it by moving out of the way. It doesn't say anything about disrupting the spell if they're in the way. Wall of Ice has that line, not Wall of Stone. Presumably you could encase them in a skin-tight mold of rock if they failed the save...
The new wall is just a bit further out than the old one was, though, because Cade's hand was in the way when it was forming. So there is a little hand-sized pocket inside the "new" section of wall that is outside the Dead Magic Zone.
Well, I've got two options right now: Turn into an avarial/use a cloaker and fly up where the wall of stone wouldn't reach, and burst a hole out the dome up higher and we airlift everyone through that, or I hop out the other side and take my chances out in the battlefield.
The Wall of Stone doesn't have to be on the ground. As long as it ties into existing stone, they can put it wherever they want, including on top of the dome.
I hope you guys aren't getting too frustrated, or feeling like I'm trying to just screw you over or power trip. I came up with this by deciding what the conditions would be around the portal (dead magic zone, in the middle of a giant battle), the purpose of the portal (to let the defenders of Myth Drannor enlist future aid, indefinitely, until they eventually win), and how the demons would react to it to try and minimize its impact. Being the devious and cruel bastards that they are, instead of fight a potentially limitless number of "defenders" from the future, the demons instead capped the thing off like Chernobyl with Walls of Stone, bored some holes in it, and then opened a Gate to the biggest hellwasp nest they could find, and invited the wasps to go chow down on the helpless fools pouring out of the portal into their newly made death trap. They also are naturally monitoring the situation to try and ensure that none of them escape, or if they do that they are handled before they can destroy the trap and let all the other guys escape from it.
There are ways for you guys to deal with it, and I think you're actually doing pretty well. The cloakers Moan being Ex was something I'd forgotten about. That helps out tremendously. I know it's been frustrating being stuck in a DMZ for so long. Sorry about that. After this, I promise I won't do that again. OK?
