OK, I think it's the top of the round again. Marlowe has been released by the bug, but is still adjacent to it. I'm going to say that as long as Marlowe doesn't resist, then Cade can treat him like an object for the purposes of picking him up and moving with him.

Those of you above ground see a score of demons coming into view around the perimeter of your positions, including a glabrezu and a nalfeshnee. The psurlon also informs you that there are even more demons that are sneaking about but not immediately visible (make Spot checks if you want).

The portal is still underground, but visible if you're nearby. It was in a fairly sizable underground chamber (which you have not explored yet), the ceiling of which was destroyed by your digging and the subsequent cave-in. From any moderate distance, only the soft glow of it is noticeable, but not the portal itself.
So could those of us at the top of the rubble just jump and land in the portal?
It's all about vision and making reality conform to your vision. By dropping a fucking house on it.

More importantly, is momentum conserved when going through a portal? :p

Phaedrus, quick question.

Invisible Solid Fog provides concealment - yes or no? I expect some of the demons to see right through it (freaking True Seeing and all), but it might just cause enough confusion amidst the lesser demons that it would be worth a shot for gaining us a precious few seconds.

Solid Fog provides concealment. Invisible Solid Fog would only provide concealment against creatures that can see it somehow (True Seeing, See Invisible, etc). It also of course restricts movement, and cannot be summoned inside a dead magic/antimagic zone.

@Boz: what were you thinking of? Would my dragging you up above ground hinder your plans?

No, I was planning to try and kill the beetle quickly, but the DMZ limits my options there.

If we get away from it, we don't need to worry about killing it. It can't move, and so can't follow us until it can heal the speed damage. If we are away from it, we have beaten it.

By the way, we went back to the top of initiative, right? So is it my turn then? Or are we still waiting for everything else?

I wasn't planning on casting it inside the DMZ anyway. Though that might work just fine regardless.

It's your turn. Well, RJ technically goes first, but you guys just post your actions and don't wait for anyone else, unless they're dependent on someone else's.

Phaedrus, what's your stance on magically-created ammunition like Bloodfreeze Arrows or Fire Shuriken? I'm wondering if they'd interfere with the eight-item limit--if not, we could get the imp to create some for us to keep handy.

I'm going to give a tentative yes on that, but review on a case-by-case basis in case of extreme craziness. What exactly do those two do again? I remember Fire Shuriken is like 6d6 damage per shuriken or something, is that right?

Yes, though they're limited to fire damage (barring energy sub, duh), but the thing is, they last until used, so you can just spend all your unspent slots on this at the end of the day and hoard the SHIT out of them.

Bloodfreeze Arrow takes a masterwork arrow/bolt and gives it an extra 2d6 cold damage, plus forces a Fortitude save or paralysis on hit (extra save each round). The DC would only be 16 or so, but it would be nice to have a few of those around.

Also, I think the Spell Compendium changed Fire Shuriken to 3d6 fire damage. Shame they can't ignite combustibles, that would be pretty neat.

Could I get a status report for the PCs at the end of your posts? I'd like to know current hit points and effects (don't include the giant buff list, since we have that elsewhere). HoV, you don't have to bother with all of your umpteen minions. Just make sure you keep up with it, and let me know if any of them drop below 0 HP. Thanks.

Edited that into my last post.

Any plans? I have a rope and a grappling hook, but I imagine it would be faster to use the flying minions if we want to escape through the roof. (Though the vampire minions would be screwed if the DMZ extends that far up and we can't put them in the pit.) Or we could try looking for an exit on the far side and hope that the DMZ mirrors the one in the present future.

I think we're better off assuming the past HAS no DMZ. If I had to guess, I'd say that the energy that powers the portal has to be coming from SOMEWHERE. The past is our better option in that case.

Oh there is definitely a DMZ in the "past". That was in my first post in this encounter thread. A Spellcraft (or Knowledge: Arcana) check could potentially give you some more insight into the DMZ and/or portal. The DC would be 30, though...
