Yeah that's right. Imma build me some melee goblin in here, and I'd like thoughts, feedback and ideas on it.
All books open (even some 3rd party stuff) and tis safe to assume better than average stats (the way my group rolls is silly: 4D6 drop the lowest, as many strings of six as you want until you get a set you like. And they think my builds are cheesy?!)
Okay. So far, here is what I've got for crunch, and a bit of fluff on top too.
The Fluff

A Drow house (not a great house mind, this family/clan is so far on the decline that they are thought of as a joke at best) is in desperate need of income. In an attempt at a get rich quick scheme, they break out one of the few powerful objects they managed to squirrel away in secret (or scammed it, or dumped the last of their wealth on), a Cubic Gate (DMG: pg 254).
They intend to drop into other planes and mine using their remaining slaves (Mostly kobolds, a few hobgoblins and a good amount of Vril [Drow of the Underdark: pg 123+errata]). Primarily they focus on the Elemental planes of Earth, Sigil and Machanus.
This works for a few years, until something nasty with many, many teeth comes through the cube and wreaks havoc. A few of the slaves make it back through the gate before it is destroyed in the carnage. The few members of the House that survive (all two or three of them) must flee the pissed off city, and head to the surface with what few slaves and possessions they can (a hobgoblin, a Vril, and a half dozen kobolds). As many evil monsters do, they fall victim to roving adventurers, whom the lone vril helps in the fight. Thankful to be free and a little overwhelmed by it, he decides to serve the party.[/spoiler]

Okay. So in the end, We have a nice little bugger that has a solid defense, functions as a can opener, has a tiny bit of trip, and can attack several opponents. If that isn't silly enough, Ijatsu Focus (sp?), Autohypnosis and UMD are open from level 1 on.
Also: what would YOU build for a martial goblin?
