Archivist have the broadest illusion spell lists?
« on: November 09, 2009, 12:33:28 PM »
Do Archivist have the broadest illusion spell lists?  Well, given that they can potentially learn ALL illusion spells (well and all spells in general) that is certainly the case.

Are there other classes or combos that even come close to the ability to learn this breadth of spell knowledge?

Mostly this has peaked my interest as I am currently playing a Shadowcraft Cloistered Cleric but in my spell research and such there is just SOOO many nifty and flavorful illusions that are not possible if one is either arcane or divine (ala cleric).  Sure, either version really does give you plenty of illusion options and even the best of them.

It would just be nice to make an illusionist where you can know all of both worlds for the most diversely complete illusionist experience and options.

The Illusion domain grants divine casters the best arcane illusions.
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

I'm playing a cloistered cleric/SCM with the Illusion domain (my second one) in a game, and I've noticed that there are still a bunch of Illusions that I miss.
[spoiler]
A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Me too.

:drool I just reread Archivist and realized how horribly wrong I misread/misunderstood their spells known breadth.  I was actually thinking they were able to learn Arcane spells too (silly me).

Of course they still rock as many, maybe even most 'arcane' spells can be gotten in divine forms.

Just be sure to find a divine bard to get scrolls from.

With various abilities, like the Dragon feat Alternate Spell Source, Archivists can learn scrolls of arcane >> divine spells.

And ofcourse the (unupdated, so technically still 3.5 legal) Hexer PrC from Masters of the Wild to allow them to learn pretty much all normally arcane spells out there.
