Gear for Shadowcraft Cloistered Cleric
« on: October 28, 2009, 12:45:30 PM »
I'm playing a Shadowcraft Cloistered Cleric (human), currenlty Cleric 5/Paragnostic Apostle 2/ Shadowcraft 2

All my spells have the (shadow) discriptor, yes ALL due to a variant homebrewed feat.

So far mostly just make the Warblade, Rogue, and Crusader in the party more awesome but about to really start letting my own Darkness shine a bit on occasion so that they do not forget that I allow them their fun hehe (good natured way not ego trip variety).

Anyways, I was looking for some flavorful and helpful gear ideas between 1st and 11th level in power.

I just blew 3.7k on the Shadow Maniple pretty much fully for its flavor but future investments shall be more utilitarian.

So far I've put together the following basic list....
Lesser metamagic Rods
Infinate Scrollcase
Bag of holding/Heward's Haversack
Stealth boosting cloak like Cloak of Stone or Elvenkind
Ring of Spellbattle
Wand of Silent Image (sense I have Residual Metamagic)

Any other nifty ideas?  I'm going to start looking through the completes now.

I'm playing one of these too (an illumian with the Improved Krau sigil). For a theoretical level 11 one that abused DMM: Heighten, here is the item list I had:
Items (total less than 52,000 gp): Collar of Umbral Metamorphosis (10,800, Tome of Magic), Scroll of Planar Bubble (2,275, Spell Compendium. Use this in emergencies. See below for benefits.), Ring of Darkhidden (2,000, MiC), a Reliquary Holy Symbol (1,000 gp, gives you 1-3 more Turns per day, MiC), Nightstick (Libris Mortis, +4 Turn Attempts, ~10,000 gp), items to grant +2 bonuses to Con, Dex, Wis, and Cha (16,000). MW chain shirt, darkwood heavy shield, light x-bow and a club. Buff these with Magic Vestment and Greater Magic Weapon.
The scroll + collar work together like this:
2a Turn on your Collar. Now you're a native of the Shadow Plane*.
2b Use your scroll of Planar Bubble. Now you're in the Shadow Plane.
2c Shadow magic is powered up there, as follows:

Quote from: SCM handbook
Enhanced magic. Spells with the shadow descriptor are enhanced on the Plane of Shadow. Such spells are cast as though they were prepared with the Maximize Spell feat, though they don't require the higher spell slots.

Furthermore, specific spells become more powerful on the Plane of Shadow. Shadow Conjuration and Shadow Evocation spells are 30% as powerful as the conjurations and evocations they mimic (as opposed to 20%). Greater Shadow Conjuration and Greater Shadow Evocation are 70% as powerful (not 60%), and a Shades spell conjures at 90% of the power of the original (not 80%).

Light spells are also impeded, but you don't care.

*Along with all this stuff:
+8 Hide, +6 Move Silently, +10 ft move speed (all unnamed), cold resistance 10, superior low light vision, and Darkvision 60ft, and the ex. ability to Hide In Plain Sight.
For the one I'm playing that just turned level 6 (and doesn't abuse DMM: Heighten), here is his item list:
Ring of Darkhidden (2,000, MiC), Heward's Handy Haversack (2,000), Cloak of Elemental Protection (1,000, resist energy 10 as an immediate action 1xday), Anklet of Translocation (MiC 71, 1,400 gp, 2xday teleport 10' as a swift action), MW chitine web armor (Underdark, light, +3 AC, max dex +6, ACP -0, 10 lbs, 225 gp, breaks down in 3 months if not maintained by a chitine... or I can just cast Make Whole on it Wink ), darkwood heavy shield (257), light x-bow and 20 bolts (37), club, Wand of Lesser Vigor (10 charges, 150 gp), 4 Wooden Holy Symbols (4), Disguise kit (50), MW tools for Hide (cloak is mottled and dark), Bluff (distracting lapel pin), Diplomacy (fancy clothes), Spot (eyeglasses), and Concentration (prayer beads) (250), other cheap adventuring gear (50 ft. silk rope, candles, chalk, paper, pen, ink, a couple of days rations, small mirror, waterskins, etc, all 50 gold or so), 1 flasks of unholy water (50 gp), 50 gp worth of powdered silver, and 900 gp worth of onyx. He also has an extra clothes including a hooded cloak, and some sticks, that he uses to make a "decoy". He has an Unseen Servant drag this around as "bait", or to set off traps. He also has a small bag of black sand, secured tightly and safely tucked inside his haversack.

Recent purchases:
1 bottle of shapesand (100 gp)(haversack)
Chronocharm of the Horizon Walker (500 gp, 1xday move 1/2 speed as a swift action)(on neck)
Chronocharm of the Uncaring Archmage (500 gp, 1xday cast full round spell as a std action)(on neck)
Pearl of Power I (1000 gp)(haversack)
Scroll of Guidance of the Avatar (150 gp)(haversack)
Healing Belt (750 gp)(worn)
1/6th scroll of Revivify (355 gp)(haversack)(the group all pitched in to buy this)

The DM is also letting us do this, and because we're in the military and they liked the idea, they decided to build one as a prototype to test it out.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks
