3.5 Rebuild Poll Part 6
« on: October 24, 2009, 10:13:39 PM »
If you were rebuilding 3.5 who would have access to healing magic?

This poll seems to have the bias that non-casters aren't allowed to heal ever. :(

I voted for the second, but I want to clarify that by saying I think everyone should have some healing capability. Those who dedicate themselves to healing, however, should have auxiliary reserves of healing ability beyond what a normal character does, and should probably have the ability to heal creatures other than themselves reserved. Also, healing shouldn't suck, but meh.

Oh, and the Heal skill should be able to heal HP and, with a sufficiently high check, ability damage. Pending a sane skill system, obviously.
So you end up stuck in an endless loop, unable to act, forever.

In retrospect, much like Keanu Reeves.

I think healing should be available on many classes.  I think slow downtime healing (such as granting Fast Healing 1 at will one one person at a time, or Martial Spirit, or similar) should be available to lots of classes so that no one is forced to be a specific healer, while useful in combat healing should be rarer (but not limited to casters, I love Crusaders).

The poll is about healing magic.  I'll get to non magical healing later.

I agree, but if this poll is about casters, then I'd say all casters should have access.

Well, the closest option was Any Caster, but I was really going with Anyone.

"Just what do you think the moon up in the sky is? Everyone sees that big, round shiny thing and thinks there must be something round up there, right? That's just silly. The truth is much more awesome than that. You can almost never see the real Moon, and its appearance is death to humans. You can only see the Moon when it's reflected in things. And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"

Untrained in Heal skill at this end ....................... Recharge epic Heal-o-rama at this end
and all points in between.

I don't know here, but I think a D&D exclusive idea about healing, is spoiled altogether, by the Video Game mentality.

The 15-minute workday screws things up too.
After a war battle, there's all this triage stuff that happens.
Some slowly die.
Others get diseases, worse than their wounds.
Others get improper treatments.
Some get the fancier healing that maybe works.

There's a reason why so few people are healers, cause nobody trusts them.
etc ...

I think healing needs a whole lot more going on.
Fighters heal in very weird ways relative to Wizard healing stuff, or some tricks the Assassins guild has.
